As the Pleasant Ridge High School baseball team gears up for the upcoming season, Coach Admin Admin shares his insights and thoughts on the team's goals, strengths, and challenges. With a focus on fostering a culture of unity and excellence, Coach Admin aims to create a cohesive and supportive environment where players can thrive both on and off the field.
One of the key factors for success this season is a strong work ethic, which Coach Admin believes will help the team execute plays and maintain player health. This year's team is led by senior Nate Herken, a natural leader with exceptional baseball knowledge. Herken has also signed to play baseball at Missouri Western after graduation, demonstrating his talent and potential as a player.
Herken will be supported by other key players, including junior Jack Maley and sophomore Austin Green. Maley was voted Northeast Kansas 1st team All-League as a catcher and Honorable Mention Kansas All-State in his sophomore year, with an impressive batting average of .538 and 25 RBI's. Green, who also made the Northeast Kansas 1st team All-League and Honorable Mention Kansas All-State last year, is an excellent first baseman with a .472 batting average and impressive stats in runs and RBI's.
These two players will undoubtedly be crucial in helping the Rams reach their goals this season. Another important player on the team is senior Mason Ewert, who is known for his versatility and speed on the field. Ewert's ability to play multiple positions will give Coach Admin flexibility in forming the team and allow them to utilize Ewert's talents to their full potential.
Last year, Ewert managed to steal 20 bases in just 20 games, making him a player to watch out for this season. Other senior players who will be assets to the team include Lucas Beying and Gabe Wise. Beying's speed in the outfield and clutch hits last season have proven him to be a valuable addition to the team.
Meanwhile, Wise, a freshman, has the potential to make an immediate impact with his pitching skills. On the mound, the team will rely on several players for success. Sophomores Rowan Fast and Brady Mance have both shown promise with their improvement over the past year, and Coach Admin believes they will be ready to take on a significant role this year.
Aside from physical training and practice, Coach Admin also emphasizes the importance of mental strength and resilience in the game. Baseball is not just a physical sport; it also requires mental toughness and focus.
