Coach Dave Prenger, a well-respected figure in the world of high school cross country, is gearing up for another exciting season with the Moeller High School team. As he and his team prepare for the upcoming season, we were fortunate enough to sit down with Coach Prenger for a preview of what fans and supporters can expect from this year's team. First and foremost, we asked Coach Prenger about the top returning players from last season. He shared, "Like most teams, our goal is to go as far as we can in the postseason along with continuing to see athletes improve and see their full potential." He then went on to highlight the team's top returning players, who not only have the potential to lead the team to success but also possess unique qualities that make them stand out. These players include Brock Grubert, Owen Speed, Preston Wesley, and Zach Lazor. Coach Prenger believes that this will be a break-out year for these four juniors who have been running varsity together since their freshman year. On the topic of new players who will make an immediate impact on the team, Coach Prenger was excited to share the names of Brock Grubert, Owen Speed, Preston Wesley, and Zach Lazor. All these players have been running varsity since their freshman year and have shown great potential to contribute to the team's success this year. Team chemistry and camaraderie are essential for any successful team, and Coach Prenger knows this well. When asked about how he plans on implementing team chemistry and camaraderie this season, he shared, "Our current captain is senior Carson Todd. He's a four-year veteran with outstanding leadership skills, not just within our team, but throughout the entire school as well." Having a strong and experienced leader like Todd will undoubtedly help the team bond and work together towards their common goal. When it comes to motivating players to push themselves to their full potential, Coach Prenger believes in continuing team traditions and events that bring the players together and build their friendships. He also emphasized the importance of positive energy and encouragement in driving the team towards success. As with any team, there are always challenges in preparing for a new season. For Coach Prenger and the Moeller Cross Country team, the biggest challenges have been maintaining positive energy and not losing motivation despite the setbacks and injuries they have faced.
