The Eisenhower High School volleyball team is gearing up for an exciting season full of new and returning talent. With a strong focus on team unity and hard work, Coach Caitlin LaPratt is confident that her team will make a big impact on the court this year. We had the chance to speak with Coach LaPratt regarding the team’s top players, captainship, team chemistry, and the upcoming season. Coach LaPratt mentioned two of the team’s top returning players, Gina Fedrigo and Kayla Ostrander. Both seniors, these girls have proven themselves to be leaders both on and off the court. Fedrigo, a setter, has incredible court vision and decision-making skills that make her stand out in the game. Ostrander, an outside hitter, brings power and consistency to the team. She is also one of the team’s captains, a role she has earned through her hard work and dedication. While there is a strong core of returning players, Coach LaPratt is also excited about the new additions to the team. These players show potential to make an immediate impact on the court. As the team continues to build its lineup, these players will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and contribute to the team’s success. When it comes to choosing team captains, Coach LaPratt looks for players who lead by example, both on and off the court. She values players who have a “we before me” mentality, putting the team’s success above their own goals. While Fedrigo and Ostrander currently hold the captain positions, Coach LaPratt mentioned that other players on the team are also vying for the role. This shows the depth of leadership on the team and the competitive spirit to lead. Team chemistry and camaraderie are crucial for success in any team sport, and the Eisenhower volleyball team is no different. Coach LaPratt and her coaching staff have implemented team-building activities and team meals to help forge a bond between the players. Additionally, they have introduced “Fight for It Fridays,” where the team battles against each other in various competitions to build camaraderie and create a competitive edge. These activities not only help the players get to know each other better but also create a sense of unity and trust within the team.
