As we enter a new season, we are excited to see what our team at Libertyville High School will achieve. With a roster of 50 to 60 athletes, we have a strong foundation for both individual and team success. This season, we have a combination of top returning players and new players who will make an immediate impact on our team. Our varsity team is motivated by last season's results and is determined to prove their capabilities this year.
Led by our top returning players, these athletes have shown remarkable cohesion and dedication in their training. Their commitment and synergy will be a significant asset throughout the season. We have high expectations for our team and believe they have the potential to make substantial strides and achieve notable accomplishments. As a coach, motivating our players to push themselves to their full potential is a top priority.
We strive to foster a positive and supportive team culture, where every athlete feels seen, heard, and valued. Our multi-sport athletes benefit greatly from the camaraderie and encouragement within the team, and we will continue to prioritize team cohesion and support. Our goal is to create a strong and united team that is capable of achieving great things together.
The schedule for this season is challenging, with many tough opponents. However, we see this as an opportunity for growth and improvement. Our focus is on individual and team development, and we are looking forward to competing against strong competition. While we don't underestimate the challenges ahead, we are excited for the opportunities to rise and overcome them together as a team.
In addition to our focus on developing strong athletes, we also prioritize the overall well-being of our players. Our team philosophy is centered around the concept of REST: Recovery, Enrichment, Sleep, and Technology. We believe that by empowering our athletes with practical and actionable steps in these areas, we can help them to become well-rounded and healthy individuals both on and off the court.
This season, we are introducing new strategies, such as yoga and meditation, to further support the physical, mental, and emotional health of our players. These practices have shown to be beneficial in enhancing flexibility, balance, coordination, stress management, and mental health. As a coach, I believe that communication is vital for a team's success on the court.
This season, we are also focusing on incorporating new affirming language to better reflect our values and encourage positive self-talk among our players. We want our team to prioritize effort, health, and proper training rather than just physical appearance.
