These are the words of Coach Julian Zuniga, head coach of the Schurr High School wrestling team, as he looks forward to the upcoming season. With a strong focus on teamwork, leadership, and pushing oneself to the limit, Coach Zuniga is confident that his team has what it takes to continue their winning streak and strive for greatness. As the team prepares for the season and works hard to capture another CIF team title, they have a solid group of returning players who will play a crucial role. Some of the top returning players from last season include Jayce Evans at 113 pounds, Hugo Gordillo at 120 pounds, Brandon Garcia at 150 pounds, and Ivan Mendez at 157 pounds. These players possess not only physical strength and skill but also a strong determination to succeed, making them valuable assets to the team. Coach Zuniga is also excited about the new players who will be joining the team this year. Javion and Javon Bryant, two transfer students, are expected to contribute greatly to the team's success. With their experience and leadership, they will be key players in setting the tempo for the team and leading them to the postseason. When it comes to selecting team captains, Coach Zuniga looks for qualities such as leadership, determination, and the ability to motivate the team. He values players who are not just focused on winning, but also on pushing themselves and their teammates to be the best they can be. Currently, multiple athletes are vying for the captain spots, showcasing the strong team camaraderie and competitive spirit within the team. To maintain team chemistry and camaraderie, Coach Zuniga plans on having bonding trips and days where the players will run practice. By emphasizing the value of teamwork in everything they do, the team can stay united and focused on their goals. Motivating players to reach their full potential is a key aspect of coaching for Coach Zuniga. He instills in his players the mentality of "Why not us?" and encourages them to always do one more rep, one more set. He also believes in believing in oneself and pushing to the limit, as anything is possible with hard work and determination. One of the biggest challenges in preparing for this season has been dealing with outside distractions and people praying for the team's downfall. However, Coach Zuniga and the team are focused on staying strong and proving their doubters wrong.
