As head coach of the Clayton Valley Charter High School basketball team, Coach Frank Allocco is no stranger to achieving success on and off the court. In this preview article, we sat down with Coach Allocco to discuss his top returning players, new additions to the team, his coaching philosophy, and the challenges and goals for the upcoming season. When asked about the top returning players from last season, Coach Allocco mentioned four key players who will play a crucial role in the team's success: Elijah Perryman, Jaden McClane, Zion Grissom, and Vince Ellis. These players have proven themselves to be exceptional in their respective positions and bring a unique set of skills to the team. Elijah Perryman, a 6'2" point guard, has committed to play for Utah State and is praised for his exceptional vision and selflessness on the court. Jaden McClane, a 6'6" forward, is a strong presence with D3 offers and a deadly three-point shot. Zion Grissom, a 6'5" forward, was one of the top sophomores in Northern California last season and is known for his scoring ability and defensive prowess. Vince Ellis, a 6'3" forward, has received interest from D1 programs and was an All-League player last season. These returning players will serve as leaders and role models for the team. In addition to these returning players, Coach Allocco is excited about the new additions to the team. He mentioned the arrival of Jett Tran, a transfer from Lowell High School and a strong contender for the team's captaincy. Coach Allocco also expressed his confidence in the team's chemistry and camaraderie, stating that players who consistently give their best effort and prioritize the team's success will earn leadership roles. When it comes to motivating his players to reach their full potential, Coach Allocco and his coaching staff prioritize building strong relationships with each player. They emphasize the team's culture and growth as teammates through team-building exercises and bonding activities. Furthermore, Coach Allocco believes in leading by example and holding himself and his coaching staff to the same standard they expect from their players. As they prepare for the upcoming season, the biggest challenges for the team are learning how to win at a high level and consistently playing at a fast pace with great shot selection.
