As the start of another high school basketball season approaches, fans of Clackamas High School are eagerly anticipating seeing their team take the court. Coach Korey Landolt and his players are working hard to improve upon last year's record and make a statement in the state of Oregon. With a strong core group returning and some new additions to the team, the Cavaliers are poised for a successful season. We spoke to Coach Landolt about the team and what fans can expect to see this year.
The Cavaliers have a solid group of returning players from last season who will be leading the team this year. Coach Landolt identified several seniors who are expected to play a key role in the team's success. Jazzy Davidson, Sara Barhoum, Dylan Mogel, Reyce Mogel, Avery Peterson, and Allie Roden all bring their unique talents and skill sets to the team. Jazzy Davidson stands out as one of the top returning players for the Cavaliers.
The senior has already earned numerous accolades, including being named Gatorade Player of the Year three times. She has signed up to play at the University of Southern California next year, and her talent and leadership will be a valuable asset to the team. Sara Barhoum, Dylan Mogel, and Reyce Mogel are also key returning players for the Cavaliers. All three seniors were recognized as honorable mentions for all-state last year and were selected to the Mt. Hood 1st team.
Sara has committed to the University of Oregon, while Dylan is headed to Seattle University and Reyce to Southern Oregon University. These players bring experience and skill to the team, and their leadership will be crucial both on and off the court. Avery Peterson and Allie Roden round out the group of senior players who will be leading the team this year. Avery was also recognized as a member of the Mt. Hood 2nd team last season and is still undecided on her college plans.
Allie was an honorable mention for all-state, part of the Mt. Hood 1st team, and has signed to play at Colorado State University. These seniors have proven themselves as valuable contributors to the team and will continue to play a significant role this year. Team Captains:
When it comes to choosing team captains, Coach Landolt looks for players who possess specific qualities. He believes that leadership, communication, and a strong work ethic are essential traits for a team captain.
