The Woodbridge Senior High School girls' volleyball program is heading into the Fall 2025 season with a fresh look and renewed energy. After graduating eight seniors, the team faces a significant transition, but Head Coach Richard Habina remains optimistic about the future. With a strong focus on strength, conditioning, and skill-building, the Vikings are preparing for what promises to be an exciting season. Offseason Preparation & Development This offseason, the primary emphasis has been on strength, conditioning, and skill refinement. With the possibility of only four returning players, the team is in a rebuilding phase, but that also means new opportunities for young talent to emerge. Players to Watch Last season was a milestone for the program, as it was the first time in years that Woodbridge fielded a freshman team. That development has set the stage for a promising crop of young players to step up this fall. Coach Habina believes this will be a young but strong team, with many players gaining valuable experience through club volleyball and offseason training. Coaching Philosophy & Military Influence One of the unique aspects of the Woodbridge coaching staff is its strong military background. Coach Habina, a former Marine, along with his assistant coaches who have served in the Navy, Army, and Marine Corps, bring a disciplined, values-driven approach to the program. This season, the team will embrace the core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, emphasizing accountability, resilience, and dedication both on and off the court. Challenges & Team Chemistry With a 90% roster turnover, the biggest challenge will be getting the players to buy into the team culture, strategies, and long-term goals. However, the benefit of a young team is the opportunity to build chemistry over multiple seasons. The question remains: Can they come together as one unit? That will be the key to their success. Community & Fan Support Fan engagement has been a major part of the team’s culture, and with volleyball rapidly growing in popularity, excitement is building around the program. There’s even growing interest in a boys' volleyball team, showcasing the sport’s increasing momentum at Woodbridge. What to Expect in 2025 While this season may be one of growth and adjustment, Woodbridge volleyball is headed in the right direction. With a strong coaching foundation, a disciplined team philosophy, and emerging young talent, the Vikings are laying the groundwork for success, not just this season, but for years to come. Stay tuned—Fall 2025 is set to be an exciting new chapter for Woodbridge Volleyball!
