As the 2025 fall volleyball season approaches, the St. John's College High School Cadets are entering a pivotal year with a solid foundation of returning talent and a renewed emphasis on team unity and fundamentals. The offseason has been all about laying that groundwork—mentally, physically, and emotionally—for a breakout campaign. Offseason Focus Our primary offseason focus has been getting back to basics. We’ve concentrated on refining individual skill sets and strengthening our foundation as a team. More than just volleyball drills, we’ve worked hard to grow as a family, building trust, accountability, and unity both on and off the court. Special Offseason Events To strengthen our team chemistry and prepare for the competitive season ahead, we’re once again attending the University of Virginia Team Camp, scheduled for July 12–13 in Charlottesville, VA. This camp provides our players with high-level instruction, intense competition, and a great opportunity to bond with one another away from home. Notable Additions & Departures We graduated just one senior from last season—Racquel Frazier, who was a key part of our squad. Fortunately, we had a very young rotation last year, so we’re returning a strong core of experienced players who have grown together and are now ready to lead. Their maturity, familiarity with the system, and drive to improve will be crucial this fall. Players to Watch We’re looking forward to big things from several returning standouts: Morgan Reeves (Senior) – A veteran leader who brings consistency and poise to every match. Wynn Eaton (Senior) – Brings great energy and a competitive edge that helps drive the team forward. Sasha Plummer (Junior) – A rising star with tremendous upside, she's been working hard all offseason to elevate her game. Cairo Turner (Sophomore) – One of our youngest contributors last year, Cairo has continued to impress with her athleticism and work ethic. These players have shown dedication through offseason workouts, club play, and leadership in team settings. Weight Lifting and Fitness Our players have embraced team workouts and individual strength training sessions, focusing on injury prevention, core strength, and agility. We’ve encouraged players to develop strong habits and routines that carry into the season. Nutrition While we don’t follow a strict nutrition plan, we emphasize smart fueling habits, hydration, and post-training recovery. Players are encouraged to eat clean, stay energized, and take care of their bodies both in-season and out. Coaching Perspective From a coaching standpoint, we’re focusing on mental and emotional toughness this year. We’ve made a conscious effort to create space for more team dialogue, open communication, and self-accountability. Our approach is less about reinventing the wheel and more about maximizing the potential we know this team already has. Fan Engagement & Community Impact We’re continuing to grow our connection with the school and local community through support at school events and youth volleyball initiatives. This year, we’re aiming to host a few youth clinics and increase our presence on social media to highlight our players and their journey throughout the season. Biggest Challenges Ahead One of the biggest hurdles for us will be getting over the mental hump against certain key conference opponents. We’ve been close—sometimes just a point or two away—but haven’t always finished strong. This season, we’re focused on building the mental toughness and confidence needed to push past those roadblocks and turn tight games into signature wins. Final Thoughts The Cadets are hungry, experienced, and ready to make noise in 2025. With a core group that has grown together and a unified offseason mindset, this team is poised to surprise anyone who underestimates them.
