As the Patriots charge into a new era, Head Coach Cody Moran steps into his first season at the helm with a renewed focus on fundamentals, leadership, and building a true “team-first” culture. Backed by a supportive community, a strong core of returning talent, and an energized coaching staff, Providence Grove is ready to make its mark in a new conference and beyond.
Offseason Focus
“We’re in the weight room, focusing on fundamentals, and becoming a team.”
Coach Moran is emphasizing the basics—building strength, mastering technique, and fostering unity across the program. The goal? A tight-knit group that competes together and grows together both on and off the field.
Special Offseason Events
To sharpen their competitive edge and build team chemistry, the Patriots are scheduled to attend:
NC State 7-on-7 Tournament – June 18
NC State OL/DL Camp – Also on June 18
These opportunities give the players valuable reps against strong competition while deepening their bond as a team.
Notable Additions & Coaching Updates
There have been some key shifts within the program:
Coach Cody Moran takes over as Head Coach after serving as the team's Defensive Coordinator last season.
Tanner Breedlove, previously Assistant DC, is now Defensive Coordinator.
Three new assistant coaches have joined the staff, ensuring each position group receives focused attention and development.
“We’ve built a strong core of young, passionate coaches. I believe several of them have what it takes to be head coaches one day.”
Players to Watch
Providence Grove boasts a talented group of skill players who are working hard this offseason:
Jackson Lawver – Returning All-Conference QB and team leader, poised for another standout season.
Holden Swift – A dynamic playmaker expected to be a major contributor on both sides of the ball.
Andrew Thomas, Jacob Flinchum, and Nick Straughn – Each of these athletes is grinding in the offseason and drawing praise for their work ethic and potential to break out in 2025.
Weight Training & Team Culture
While not revealing specific routines, the Patriots are locked in on building strength and unity through their offseason weight room work. The program is emphasizing buy-in, accountability, and togetherness.
Coaching Vision & Strategy
Coach Moran’s approach is rooted in the development of both players and coaches:
“We want to win on Friday nights, but more importantly, we’re committed to preparing these young men to be successful in life—as future husbands, fathers, and leaders.”
Expect the team to continue evolving schematically to fit its personnel and identity under the new coaching leadership.
Community Engagement
Providence Grove takes pride in its connection with the community:
The team has a loyal fanbase that creates a great Friday night atmosphere.
This fall, players will visit local elementary schools, opening car doors and forming bonds with younger students, fostering a deeper connection between the program and the community it represents.
Challenges & Outlook
“We’re young—from the coaching staff to the roster. We’re asking a lot of our players. But we’re excited about our new conference and fully committed to building something special.”
With a promising quarterback, strong coaching energy, and a clear purpose guiding their offseason, the Patriots are laying the groundwork for a strong campaign on the field and in life.
