With a growing program, strong senior leadership, and a hunger for success, Oologah-Talala Cross Country is building momentum for a breakthrough season. Offseason Focus: Growth & Expansion Building the program: Expanding not just within the high school but also introducing middle school students to cross country. Recruitment efforts: Actively seeking new athletes to broaden the team’s depth and competitive edge. Special Offseason Events: Camps & Development Opportunities Athletes attending multiple camps: Several runners are participating in various cross country camps for skill development and exposure. Hosting the first annual Little League Cross Country Camp: Open to 1st through 5th graders in the district. Aims to introduce young athletes to the sport and foster early enthusiasm for running. Major milestone for the program’s long-term growth. Roster Changes: Stability & Senior Leadership No major departures or coaching staff changes. A strong senior class is leading the team, setting the tone for hard work and commitment. Players to Watch: Senior Leaders Poised for a Big Year Talented senior class: A tight-knit group of boys and one standout girl who provide leadership on and off the course. Experienced at the State Meet: After last season’s taste of success, they are driven to go even further this year. Training Approach: Strengthening the Foundation Weight training and fitness development are likely being introduced to enhance endurance and injury prevention. Unique training methods and team bonding activities will play a key role in keeping motivation high. Nutrition Guidance: Encouraging Smart Choices While there may not be a formal nutrition program in place yet, guidance on proper fueling is essential for young runners as they push for top performance. Coaching Perspective: Building a Legacy Coach Maddy Robinson is new to the program and focused on expanding the team’s reach while maintaining a culture of excellence.
