As Faith Christian’s girls’ soccer team gears up for the offseason, Head Coach David Ungaro and his squad are preparing for an exciting yet challenging season ahead. With key senior departures and new players stepping in, the focus is on rebuilding, strengthening, and maintaining the competitive edge that has defined the program. Offseason Focus: Replacing Leadership & Building Depth The biggest task this offseason is replacing four senior players who played at the varsity level for all four years. Their absence leaves a leadership gap on and off the pitch, which the coaching staff and returning players are working hard to fill. The team’s focus is on developing chemistry, refining tactical awareness, and building confidence in new leaders. Special Offseason Events: Purdue Team Camp The highlight of the offseason will be the team camp at Purdue University in July. This event provides an excellent mix of training and team bonding, allowing the girls to develop their skills while strengthening their camaraderie. The experience will be instrumental in preparing them for the demands of the upcoming season. Key Players to Watch With a transition in leadership, three senior captains are set to make a big impact: Hannah Bolton – A dynamic player with strong technical ability and leadership qualities. Abigail Sprunger – A hard-working competitor who brings intensity and composure to the game. Bailey Pattee – A versatile athlete who plays with confidence and tactical awareness. All three will compete for Indy Eleven ECNL/RL this spring, further sharpening their skills in preparation for their senior year. Strength & Conditioning: Preparing for a Long Season The coaching staff is emphasizing endurance and injury prevention to ensure the team remains strong throughout the long season. With a focus on strength training and conditioning, the team is working on maintaining peak performance from the first match to the postseason in October. New Challenges: Adjusting to a New Home Field One of the biggest changes this season will be playing home matches in a brand-new stadium. While exciting, the transition requires an adjustment period, and the team is looking forward to making the most of their new home field advantage. Coaching Perspective: Staying Focused & Healthy Coach Ungaro and his staff are focused on keeping the team mentally and physically prepared for the grind of the season. Ensuring players stay healthy and sharp for peak performance in October will be a key priority. Looking Ahead to 2025 Faith Christian enters the new season with challenges but also great opportunities. With a talented group of returning seniors, exciting young players, and a commitment to excellence, the team is ready to compete at a high level. Fans can look forward to an exciting season filled with growth, determination, and strong performances on the field.
