After a strong 2024 season, Klein Oak Volleyball is charging into the upcoming year with a sharpened focus on health, recovery, and player development—especially for athletes juggling intense club commitments. Under the guidance of Head Coach Bill Jenkins, the program is taking a mindful and strategic approach to the offseason. Offseason Focus: Health Is the Priority With many players involved in grueling club volleyball schedules, the team’s offseason isn’t about overtraining—it’s about training smarter. “Our offseason focus is keeping kids healthy,” said Coach Jenkins. “Most of our weight room work involves strengthening the back side of the body and incorporating yoga/stretching to prevent injury.” This injury-prevention-first mentality is setting the foundation for a long, sustainable season. Roster Outlook: New Talent, Familiar Leadership The Panthers are working to replace two key starters—one at middle blocker and another at right side. The battle for those open positions has brought out the fire in several younger players eager to step into the spotlight. “We’ve got quite a few youngsters fighting for those two roster spots,” Jenkins added. Players to Watch: Core Trio Ready to Lead Klein Oak’s 2024-25 squad is anchored by a trio of standouts: Camille Csernik (OH) – A big-time college recruit and one of the most dominant hitters in the area. Tori Leggeiro (OH) – Made a smooth transition from middle blocker to outside hitter last season and is primed for a breakout year. Erin Carpenter (Libero) – A 3-year starter whose leadership and defensive presence bring stability and confidence to the backcourt. Coaching Continuity: Year Two as a Unit Last season, the entire coaching staff was hired mid-year (June and July). Now, with more time under their belts, Coach Jenkins and his staff are prepared to launch the season with more structure and cohesion. “Having more time to implement our offensive and defensive schemes should help us come out of the gate more prepared than last year.” Biggest Challenge: The District Gauntlet There’s no sugar-coating the level of competition in Klein Oak’s district. “The biggest challenge will be playing in a district where all of the teams will be better than they were last year,” said Jenkins. “It will be very competitive just to try and earn a playoff berth.” But with a veteran libero, rising talent, and a focus on physical health and tactical readiness, Klein Oak is ready to rise to the occasion.
