Coming off a strong 2024 season, the Celina High School Volleyball program isn’t taking anything for granted. Under the leadership of Head Coach Cori Cate, the team is using the offseason to double down on strength, skill, and spirit—laying the foundation for another high-powered campaign.
Offseason Focus: Bigger, Faster, Stronger
At Celina, the offseason isn't about easing up—it's about leveling up.
“Our main focus is to be BFS—bigger, faster, stronger,” said Coach Cate. “We emphasize the weight room, conditioning, and jump training, while also working on ball control and individual skill development.”
But beyond the physical, it’s also about team chemistry. Every rep is done with one goal: build a cohesive, competitive unit ready to battle together.
Weight Room Culture: Strong Bodies, Stronger Bonds
The program is committed to keeping training fresh and fun.
“We shake things up every few weeks,” Cate explained. “From themed days—like all wearing pink or yellow—to game days that bring joy and fun into the grind.”
This innovative culture fuels a love for the process, which Coach Cate believes is crucial to long-term success.
Coach Development: Leading by Learning
Coach Cate and her staff aren’t just pushing athletes to grow—they’re leading by example.
“If we, as coaches, aren’t learning, then we aren’t growing,” she said.
The staff has attended the THSCA Leadership Summit, joined a monthly coaching roundtable with DFW-area programs, and led a leadership book study with players, focusing on fresh strategies and a forward-thinking mindset.
Community Connection: Giving Back in the Offseason
With more flexibility in the spring, the Lady Bobcats are investing their time into others.
“We’ve been supporting our other school teams, volunteering at elementary campuses, and helping with our school-wide fundraiser,” Cate shared.
These efforts are building pride, presence, and strong community ties across Celina.
The Road Ahead: Embracing the Target
After a standout 2024 season, expectations are high—and Coach Cate welcomes them.
“The biggest challenge is living up to the standards we’ve set. There’s a target on our back, and we’re focused on building off last year while improving where we fell short.”
With a united culture, relentless work ethic, and deep roots in the community, Celina Volleyball is ready to rise again in 2025.
