With a new head coach at the helm and the loss of key senior leadership, Splendora Volleyball isn’t looking to rebuild—they’re reloading. The Ladycats are embracing a fresh chapter with a renewed commitment to strength, speed, and team unity. Offseason Focus: Strength, Speed & Chemistry Coach Nakia Taylor has made it clear—this offseason is about creating a faster, stronger, and more cohesive team. “We’re emphasizing the weight room to develop power and agility while also fostering leadership and accountability among our younger players,” she said. It’s all about maintaining the program’s standard of excellence, even with fresh faces stepping into major roles. New Era, New Energy The biggest storyline heading into the season is the transition at the top, as Coach Taylor steps in as Splendora’s new head coach. Despite the turnover—four head coaches in four years—Taylor brings a steady vision and a focus on team culture that aims to restore consistency and long-term growth. “We’re focused on building trust and chemistry. The players are hungry, and we’re determined to make this season one to remember.” Players to Watch: A Core of Grit and Talent Several standout athletes are already turning heads this offseason: Bevin Baker (Senior, Pin Hitter) – A 2nd Team All-District player refining her power and versatility on the outside and right side. Morgan Johnson (Junior, Libero) – Last year’s Newcomer of the Year, Johnson is also a standout in softball, with elite reaction time making her a defensive anchor. Rylee Lock (Senior, Middle Blocker) – A dual-sport athlete excelling in track, Lock dominates the net with explosive hops and strong blocking. Ava Tullos (Junior, Outside Hitter) – Known for her offensive firepower and sharp ball placement, Tullos has been laser-focused on refinement and consistency. Their dedication in the weight room and on the court is already showing results—and their leadership will be key this fall. Community First: Splendora’s Heartbeat In true small-town fashion, the Ladycats are deeply rooted in their community. “Our team takes pride in staying connected with our fanbase—supporting local events, volunteering, and showing up for those who show up for us,” Coach Taylor shared. The support flows both ways, and the bond between team and town is one of Splendora’s greatest strengths. Challenges Ahead: Stability & Stepping Up The team faces two major hurdles: Adjusting to yet another coaching change, striving to build long-term stability. Replacing key seniors who left big shoes to fill on and off the court. But the mindset is clear—this group isn’t backing down. They’re training hard, trusting the process, and buying into the culture Coach Taylor is building. Outlook: Hungry, Focused, and Built to Compete With high-level talent returning and a coaching staff invested in growth, Splendora Volleyball is poised for a statement season. The culture is changing, the workouts are intense, and the players are all in.
