Bellmore, NY – The Mepham High School girls soccer program is gearing up for another competitive year, fueled by returning talent, young energy, and a strong team culture established by graduating seniors. Offseason Focus: Recharging, Then Refueling Following a late-October season finish, Coach Janine Bizelia gives her players time to reset, encouraging them to enjoy other school sports and focus on their club commitments. The team then regroups in June for speed, agility, and technical training, ramping up steadily through summer into the heart of preseason in August. Team Bonding Through Purpose Team chemistry is a cornerstone of Mepham’s identity. From cheering each other on at other events to fundraising for childhood cancer awareness, the girls remain united off the field. These shared causes not only strengthen their bond but also keep the team connected to the larger community. Roster Turnover and Rising Stars The Pirates graduated 11 seniors—a big loss in leadership and experience—but the foundation they left behind remains strong. Coach Bizelia is optimistic: “We’ll stay confident and move forward.” The program continues to grow, with fresh talent ready to step up. Players to Watch Leading the charge is Kaitlin Tansey, a Davidson University commit known for her versatility and leadership as a defender/midfielder. Offensively, Gabrielle Caminiti is poised to be a major scoring threat, while Ava Parisi anchors the back line with consistency and calm. A wave of young players is also expected to make an impact. Fitness Focus & Personal Commitment Mepham places a premium on fitness, with players committed to running, strength training, and team workouts that include speed and agility sessions. Many girls train independently to stay in peak condition year-round. Community and Coaching Culture With a strong social media presence and ongoing fundraisers, the program continues to engage fans and maintain community support. The coaching staff remains energized, thanks in part to the players’ dedication and positive energy at every session. Challenges Ahead With a tough conference slate and a roster in transition, the Pirates know every season brings fresh obstacles. Replacing last year’s graduating talent will be no small task, but Coach Bizelia is confident: “We need to raise the bar and work to get to the next level.” As the 2025 season approaches, one thing is clear: Mepham Girls Soccer is building more than a team—they’re building a legacy.
