With tradition, toughness, and high standards at the core of their identity, Delaware Valley Football enters the 2025 season with a clear focus: rebuild the trenches, stay physical, and be ready early. After graduating a number of experienced linemen, Head Coach Keith Olsommer and his staff are using the offseason to reload and prepare for a challenging opening slate.
Offseason Focus: Strength & Depth Up Front
The Warriors are locked in this offseason with a mission to get stronger and find new varsity-ready linemen. “Replacing talented and experienced linemen is never easy,” Coach Olsommer says, “but it’s our top priority.” Winter training has revolved around building strength, increasing physicality, and grooming the next generation of front-line warriors.
Summer Competition: High-Level 7v7s
To sharpen their skills and foster team chemistry, Delaware Valley will attend multiple 7-on-7 events this summer, including highly competitive stops at Penn State and West Point. These matchups will help the Warriors test their skill players and compete against strong regional talent before the season officially begins.
Roster Overview: Returners Ready to Shine
Despite some losses, the Warriors return several players with breakout potential:
Mike Iuzzolino (RB) – Coming off a breakout junior campaign, Mike will be a key part of the offensive engine.
Trey Newton (WR) – As a freshman, he broke the school record for receptions, and expectations are sky-high heading into year two.
Justin Estevez (LB) – The heartbeat of the defense last year and a vocal leader headed into his senior season.
Dylan Bannon (OLB) – Saw limited action as a sophomore but is set for a major impact in 2025.
Fueling the Grind: Nutrition Support
While there isn’t a formal nutrition program in place, the team provides post-lift peanut butter & jelly sandwiches throughout the winter to ensure players are refueling after workouts.
Coaching Approach: Film First, College Influence
The coaching staff remains intact, maintaining continuity in leadership. Offseason preparation has been all about breaking down film, studying player tendencies, and refining schemes. Coach Olsommer and his staff also make it a point to attend college practices to bring fresh, effective ideas back to the high school level.
Community Involvement: Warriors Give Back
Delaware Valley players continue to set an example off the field through community engagement. During the offseason, the team has been involved in garbage cleanups, local parades, and volunteer projects, further cementing their role as leaders within the community.
Challenges Ahead: Early-Season Tests
Coach Olsommer is clear about the team’s biggest test: “Getting guys ready to play early on. We’ve got a tough first four weeks.” With significant new pieces being worked into the lineup, early preparation and quick development will be critical.
