The 2024-25 season was one for the history books at Blue Valley High School, marked by grit, growth, and historic accomplishments. Under the guidance of Head Coach Dwight Williams, the Tigers delivered a memorable campaign, finishing with an impressive 18-4 record, capturing the Eastern Kansas League (EKL) title outright for the first time in 38 years, and going on an incredible 15-game winning streak. Key Contributors & Standouts Several players emerged as difference-makers throughout the season: Brendan Walsh (Sophomore) – The standout point guard earned EKL MVP, 1st Team All-League, and 2nd Team All-State honors. He averaged 15 points, 3.1 assists per game, and shot 42% from beyond the arc. His ability to create off the dribble, finish at the rim, and generate offense for teammates made him a constant threat. Enoch Rodriguez (Junior) – Named 1st Team EKL and Honorable Mention All-State, Rodriguez contributed 14 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. His defensive presence, shooting touch, and ability to attack the rim added dynamic versatility on both ends of the floor. Parker Seithel (Junior) – Also named 1st Team EKL and Honorable Mention All-State, Seithel was a force inside and out. He averaged a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds per game, showcasing tremendous offseason growth. Senior Leadership – Veterans Kyle Boggess, Maguire Richman, Malcom Mwai, and Dusten Stigge all played crucial roles, contributing with defense, rebounding, timely scoring, and—most importantly—elite leadership that held the locker room together. Coach Williams emphasized that even the bench played a vital role, bringing energy and support that fueled the team’s momentum during their mid-season winning streak. Season Highlights The Tigers faced early adversity with injuries and illness, starting the season 3-3. A road trip to Lincoln, Nebraska, turned into a turning point after a loss to Lincoln East. A team meeting sparked renewed focus, leading to a win over Lincoln Southeast and kicking off a 15-game win streak. Their crowning moment came with an undefeated run in EKL play, capturing the league championship and hosting both sub-state games. Although they ultimately fell to Olathe North in the sub-state final, the season was a major leap forward for the program. Culture, Resilience, and Senior Legacy The motto “Do the next right thing” became the team’s guiding principle. As pressure mounted, the players stayed composed and locked in, responding to challenges with maturity and unity. Coach Williams praised the senior class for fostering an unselfish, supportive culture. They embodied what it meant to be teammates and left a lasting impact that will carry into future seasons. Looking Ahead With three returning starters—including two rising seniors and a rising junior—the future is bright. Coach Williams is excited about the athleticism and versatility of the upcoming junior class and sees potential in rising sophomores to fill key frontcourt roles. The offseason will be focused on resetting, sharpening both ends of the floor, and continuing to strengthen the team’s identity.
