Shakopee High School Wrestling Season Preview

The 2024–25 wrestling season marked another important chapter in the growth of Shakopee High School’s girls wrestling program. Under the guidance of Coach Blane Tschida, the team showcased rising stars, celebrated a state championship, and laid a strong foundation for the future of this young, determined group of athletes. Key Contributors Leading the charge was Belle Suchta, a returning state finalist who capped off her season by becoming a Minnesota State Champion. Belle’s experience, poise, and work ethic made her a natural leader and a role model for her teammates. Another breakout star was Jasmine Tukhlynovych, a newcomer who rapidly made her mark. Her 6th-place finish at state highlighted her incredible growth and commitment. “Jasmine quickly became a role model right out of the gates,” said Coach Tschida. “Her hard work and rapid development were an inspiration to the entire team.” Season Summary & Highlights Overall, it was a strong season for a young and evolving squad. With two wrestlers standing on the podium at the state tournament and several others gaining valuable mat time, the year proved both productive and promising. “We had a great season with strong individual performances and a lot of learning opportunities,” said Tschida. Growth & Development A key storyline was the emergence of new wrestlers. With no seniors on the roster, every leadership moment and competitive success came from underclassmen stepping into the spotlight. “We have a very green team,” Tschida noted, “but the progress from day one to the end of the season was incredible.” Responding to Adversity The team took a measured, long-term approach to handling challenges. “We take time to heal properly and use tough losses as learning opportunities,” said Tschida. “That mindset helps us stay mentally tough and better prepared for high-pressure situations.” A Bright Future With no seniors graduating, the future is wide open for the Sabers.
