Mainland High School – Football 2025 Offseason Spotlight  Offseason Focus The Buccaneers are returning to their roots in 2025 with a clear mission: master the details and finish strong. “We got away from the small things that make you a champion,” said Coach Bell. “This offseason is all about refining the little details that win games in November and December.” Special Offseason Events Mainland will hit the summer hard with its annual 7v7 tournaments and Big Man camps. With a younger roster this year, these reps will be crucial for both development and building chemistry under pressure.  Notable Additions & Departures Mainland says goodbye to dominant trench monster Christian Hudson, one of the most feared linemen in the nation. But rather than replacing him with a single player, Coach Bell is deploying a deep and diverse defensive line rotation to fill the void. On offense, the wide receiver room is undergoing a full transformation—but the new group is already turning heads, with three newcomers holding FBS offers. Players to Watch Dennis “Tank” King (LB): A nationally-ranked recruit and cornerstone of the defense. Jahvin Westbrook (DB): Returning from injury and expected to strengthen the secondary. New WRs: Names are still emerging, but this group is packed with FBS-caliber talent. Chevin Davis (C): The vocal and physical leader of the offense. Coach Bell describes him as the heart of the team—never misses a workout and always does things the right way.  Weight Lifting and Fitness With their traditional weightlifting class cut from the school schedule, the team had to get creative and gritty. “Breakfast Club” workouts at 7 AM for early risers. Afternoon lifts for others. The lesson? No excuses—just solutions. It’s a culture that breeds winners. Nutrition Mainland is keeping it old school and effective: Chocolate milk and peanut butter jars help fuel growth and gains in the weight room. Coaching Perspective Coach Bell calls 2024 a “wake-up call” for the program. The staff has doubled in size and returned to what made the Buccaneers great—self-scouting, honesty, and accountability. Fresh faces bring fresh ideas, but the foundation remains the same: discipline and excellence.  Fan Engagement & Community Impact Mainland is proud to be a community-first school. “Our kids will always be visible in the community,” said Coach Bell. Whether it’s volunteering or just representing with pride, the Bucs stay connected to the people who support them. Biggest Challenges Ahead The Bucs open 2025 with one of the toughest seven-week stretches in Florida football. For a young team, navigating that gauntlet will be the true test. “Our biggest challenge is making sure this group can handle the heat early and grow fast,” said Bell.
