Bordentown Regional HS Football Offseason Update: Preparing for a Competitive Year Offseason Focus Our main goal this offseason is to get bigger, faster, and stronger as a team. Many of our players have been pushing themselves with significant weight training to improve their strength and conditioning. Special Offseason Events Being a Group 2 school in New Jersey, we emphasize the importance of our players being multi-sport athletes. This experience brings competition variety and helps them maintain focus academically and athletically throughout the year. Notable Additions & Departures Our roster from last season had 54 players. We lost 6 seniors, a few underclassmen left the program, and 4-6 new players have joined us for the upcoming season. Our roster continues to grow steadily. Players to Watch Carter Stumpf (Jr., MLB/RB) wrestled this year and made great progress despite no prior wrestling experience. Connor Bramley (Jr., TE/OLB) has added size and speed through dedicated weight room work. Calvin Nice (home school student, former QB, now ROT/DE) has grown to 6’5” and developed impressive strength and speed. Isaac Salgado (Jr., LOG) excels in blocking and trap plays. Lucas Schwartz (Jr., Kicker) has been focused on increasing leg strength in the weight room. Tahji Hill (Sr., RB/MLB) is a smart, hard-working player who has improved tremendously since freshman year. Khalil Bangura (REC/DB/KR) enhanced his speed and quickness by participating in spring track, and we are developing special packages to get the ball in his hands more. Davone Johnson (Sr., FB/DE) has grown bigger and faster, with the potential for a breakout season. Jumari Glover (REC/DB) is our go-to defensive back for covering the opponent’s top receiver. Trey Lee (Jr., QB/DB) took over starting QB duties after the first two games last season and led the team to a 7-1 record. Greg Stalnaker (Jr., QB/REC/FS) made impactful plays in his spot role, including a 75+ yard INT return for a TD. Gianni Jones (Jr., TE/DE) combines speed and strength and will have a major role this season. Luke Harris (Sr., FB/OLB) is a multi-sport athlete with strong instincts on defense. Jose Santiago (Jr., RB/OLB) was a key offensive player last season and improved speed through basketball and track. New players to watch include Braedan Daloisio, Jahiem Drummond, Larry Hart, Xavier Mohamed, Alex Augustine, Sejean Bryan, Tugra Demir, David Forker, Chris Fuentes, Ethan Larbi, Bryton Ledix, Cheis Malcolm, Lawrence Massquoi, Jacob Warren, Jacob Blanding, Demitius Briggs, Chase Foster, and Jon Owens. Weight Lifting and Fitness Our winter and spring workouts have led to impressive gains in strength and core fitness. Our spring sessions simulate practice with stretching, weight training, and core exercises, and player attendance has been outstanding. Nutrition I encourage players to eat balanced meals that combine protein and carbohydrates, and to stay well hydrated to support their performance. Coaching Perspective Our staff frequently meets to discuss player development. I personally spend time in the weight room to connect with players individually. The coaches continuously study game film and work hard to help each athlete improve. Fan Engagement & Community Impact We host two major fundraisers each year, with players recruiting participants and earning prizes for top sellers. We are in early planning stages for a golf outing, which will further unite our community beyond game days. Additional fundraisers throughout the season help foster strong community ties. Biggest Challenges Ahead Staying healthy and maintaining consistent performance will be our biggest challenges. If we can keep our team healthy, we will be able to compete at a high level every game.
