The Redwood High School wrestling team had a stellar season last year, claiming the EYL Championship, Division II Championship, and placing in the Top 10 at Masters. This year, the team is setting their sights even higher with goals of a Top 15 finish in the state. We spoke with Coach Admin Admin to get a preview of what we can expect from the team this season. Coach Admin Admin has been with the Redwood High School wrestling program for years and has seen the team grow and succeed. When asked about the overall goals for the team this season, Coach Admin Admin was confident in the team's abilities and determined to build on last year's accomplishments. He stated that the team's main goal is to continue improving and add a Top 15 finish in the state to their list of achievements. This requires dedication, hard work, and a strong team mentality, something Coach Admin Admin believes the Redwood High School wrestling team embodies. To achieve these goals, Coach Admin Admin believes that the key to success lies in the team's work ethic and mindset. He emphasizes the importance of consistent improvement and pushing past their limits. The team's goal is not just to win, but to become better wrestlers. Coach Admin Admin also stresses the importance of a positive team culture, as it allows players to support and encourage each other, pushing them to be the best they can be. The Redwood High School wrestling team is led by a talented group of returning players from last season. Among them are three standout wrestlers - Isaak Mendoza, Enrique Segura, and Kai Preisendorf. Isaak Mendoza, who competes in the 138-pound weight class, is a force to be reckoned with. He finished last season with a record of 39-13 and is currently ranked #29 in the state. His skill, determination, and experience have earned him the title of 2022-23 State Qualifier. Enrique Segura, who competes in the 190-pound weight class, is another top returning player for the team. He finished last season with a record of 34-15 and is currently ranked #24 in the state. He is also a 2022-23 State Qualifier and brings a level of grit and determination to the mat that is unmatched. Kai Preisendorf, who competes in the 215-pound weight class, is the final top returning player for the team. He finished last season with a record of 41-13
