Rubidoux High School in Riverside, California, is known for its strong athletic programs and competitive teams. Each year, the teams push themselves to excel and compete for championships. As we approach the new school year, all eyes are on the athletes of Rubidoux High School and what they have in store for us this year. We sat down with Coach Todd Chard, the head coach of the varsity football team, to get a preview of the team's upcoming season and to hear his thoughts on the overall state of the team.
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about the team's off-season training and preparations for the upcoming season?
A: Our off-season training has been very intense and focused. We have been working on improving our strength and conditioning, as well as honing our skills on the field. We have also spent a lot of time studying film and strategizing for the upcoming season. Overall, I am very pleased with the dedication and hard work that our players have shown during the off-season.
Q: What are some of the key players we should keep an eye on this season?
A: We have a lot of talent on our team this year, but there are a few players that I think will have a big impact on the field. First, there's our quarterback, Alex Rodriguez. He's a senior this year and has been working hard to improve his passing and decision-making skills. I have no doubt that he will lead our offense with confidence and skill. On defense, we have junior linebacker, Jessica Martinez, who is a force to be reckoned with. She is a fierce competitor and has been working on her speed and tackling technique during the off-season. We also have a strong group of seniors, including wide receiver, Eric Smith, and offensive lineman, Sarah Nguyen, who will provide leadership and experience on the field.
Q: How do you think the team will perform this year compared to previous years?
A: Every year is a new challenge and a new opportunity for our team. I believe we have the potential to have a very successful season, but it will require hard work and dedication from every player. We have a good mix of experienced veterans and talented underclassmen, so I am confident in our ability to compete at a high level this year.
Q: What are some of the team's strengths and weaknesses going into the season?
A: Our strengths definitely lie in our skill positions on offense.
