As the new season approaches, the Academy of International Studies volleyball team is gearing up for another successful year. Coach Bobby Kennedy is looking to build on last season's accomplishments and continue the growth of the program. With a combination of established players and new talent, the team is set to achieve its goals and make its mark in the competitive world of high school volleyball. One of the keys to the team's success this season will be their attention to detail. Coach Kennedy stresses the importance of doing all the little things right, both on and off the court. This focus on detail will not only improve the team's performance but also build a strong foundation for their overall growth as a program. The team is fortunate to have some top returning players from last season who will be a driving force on the court. Junior Sirenity Johnson, who put in a lot of hard work in the offseason, will be a formidable presence around the net. Her dedication and determination to improve her skills make her a valuable asset to the team. Another key returning player is junior Angie Zuluaga Gonzalez. Her versatility on the court, fierce competitive attitude, and strong work ethic set her apart and make her a natural leader. In addition to the returning players, Coach Kennedy also sees great potential in new team members. Junior Ihsan Cicero and junior Liana Diaz may not be new to the team, but they did not see much playtime last season on varsity. However, this year they are front-runners for starting positions and are expected to make an immediate impact on the team's success. Team chemistry and camaraderie are important aspects of any successful team. Coach Kennedy emphasizes the role of captains in creating a positive and supportive team culture. He looks for qualities such as effective communication, a strong work ethic, and the ability to lead by example when selecting team captains. This year, the captain positions are up for grabs and Coach Kennedy is looking for players who will stand out and separate themselves from the rest of the team. As with any sports team, there are always challenges to overcome. For the AIS volleyball team, one of the biggest challenges has been getting players to attend off-season practices and dealing with transportation issues. However, these obstacles have only made the team more determined to work hard and make the most of their time together on the court. The team's schedule this season is filled with tough opponents, but this presents a great opportunity for the team to grow and improve.
