Argyle High Cheer Shines on State and National Stage in 2025 Season
In a season that showcased determination, growth, and elite performance, the Argyle High School Cheerleading team, led by Head Coach Diana Nolasco, reached new heights in the 2025 winter season. With a strong showing at both state and national competitions, the team solidified its reputation as a powerhouse while also building a foundation for sustained future success.
Though relatively young in terms of experience, this year’s squad demonstrated poise, passion, and perseverance beyond their years. Coach Nolasco’s leadership and the collective efforts of athletes, parents, and supporters proved to be a winning formula, culminating in a State Finalist finish at the 5ADII UIL Spirit Competition and a prestigious 2nd Place title at the NCA High School Nationals in the Large Crowd Leading Division.
Collective Contribution Drives Success
When asked to name the key contributors to this season’s success, Coach Nolasco took a holistic approach. Rather than pointing to a few standout athletes, she highlighted the full community effort behind the team’s achievements.
“We had multiple key contributors this season,” she said. “From the athletes to the parents, each member contributed to the team in a positive manner that made our season successful.”
This collaborative spirit was evident throughout the season, as every individual involved played a role in propelling the team forward. Whether it was providing encouragement, logistical support, or stepping up in a competitive routine, the shared commitment to excellence became a defining trait of Argyle Cheer in 2025.
A Season of Strong Performances
The 2025 season brought with it tremendous success on the competition floor. For Coach Nolasco and her squad, the performance of a relatively young team at both the state and national levels was particularly satisfying.
“Our season was very successful,” she shared. “We took a young team to the competition and performed well at both the state and national levels.”
This success is a testament to the hard work and preparation of the athletes and coaches alike. Competing in high-stakes environments against seasoned programs could have been intimidating, but Argyle’s cheerleaders embraced the challenge and proved they were more than up for the task.
Defining Moments and Rising Leaders
Every great season includes defining moments—instances when a team’s character is tested, and true leaders emerge. For Argyle Cheer, those moments came as the pressure of competition intensified.
“As competition unfolded, many of our younger members had to step into leadership and mentorship roles,” said Nolasco. “Each athlete came together to help their teammates, which contributed to a State Finalist win and earning 2nd Place at Nationals.”
Those transitions were crucial in shaping the team’s identity. Instead of relying solely on veterans, Argyle’s younger athletes rose to the occasion, supporting one another, learning quickly, and contributing to team success in big ways. These moments laid the groundwork not just for this season, but for seasons to come.
Overcoming Adversity with Teamwork
No season is without its challenges—whether they come in the form of injuries, pressure-packed performances, or unexpected setbacks. For the Argyle cheerleaders, those challenges became opportunities to deepen their bond and strengthen their resolve.
“The team rose above themselves and put each other first,” Nolasco explained. “Without challenges and overcoming adversity, the team wouldn't be in such a special place.”
Rather than folding under pressure, the athletes learned to value the true meaning of teamwork. They supported each other emotionally, filled in for injured teammates, and stayed focused on their shared goals. These experiences created a resilient and tightly-knit team that refused to let obstacles define them.
“Each member learned and valued the commitment of teamwork,” Nolasco added, “and that in itself is a win.”
Looking Ahead: Building on a Strong Foundation
With the season now complete, Coach Nolasco’s focus has shifted to the future, and she’s optimistic about what’s to come. Experience was a key factor in this year’s success, and it’s something the returning athletes will bring in abundance next season.
“This year, we are looking at having a more experienced team on the mat,” she said. “With experience, we are hoping to have another successful season with the hopes of not only placing, but winning titles.”
That increased experience should give the team an edge in both preparation and competition. The returning athletes now understand what it takes to perform under pressure, and their familiarity with the routines, judging criteria, and expectations will be invaluable as they work toward even greater success.
Offseason Focus: Strength, Technique, and Engagement
Great teams are built in the offseason, and Coach Nolasco already has a focused plan to continue developing her athletes. This summer and fall, Argyle Cheer will be dedicating time to three core areas of growth: strength and stamina, technique, and crowd engagement.
These components are critical not only for competition performance but also for the team’s role in school spirit and community involvement. A well-rounded cheer program goes beyond stunts and choreography—it inspires pride, unity, and energy both on the sidelines and in the stands.
A Season to Remember
With their State Finalist recognition at UIL and a 2nd Place finish at NCA Nationals, the Argyle High School Cheerleading team has a lot to be proud of. These accomplishments reflect not only talent but also hard work, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence that runs deep throughout the program.
What makes this season particularly special is that it served as both a high point and a starting point. The young team exceeded expectations and laid a strong foundation for continued success. The lessons learned, challenges overcome, and bonds built will fuel Argyle Cheer’s drive in the seasons to come.
