As the fall season approaches, high school football teams around the country are preparing for another exciting year on the gridiron. The Bell High School football team is no exception, and their head coach, Noel Padilla, is determined to lead his team to success. We had the opportunity to sit down with Coach Padilla and discuss his team and their upcoming season. Coach Padilla has been at the helm of the Bell High School football program for several years now, and he has seen his fair share of talent come and go. When asked about the top returning players from last season, he didn't hesitate to mention a few standouts. "We have a strong core of returning players who are determined to lead our team to be one of the better teams in our section," Coach Padilla said. Some of these players include RB Erik Stubbs, OT Frankie Hernandez, and FS/WR Christopher Gonzalez. Erik Stubbs, who rushed for 900 yards last season as the team's #2 RB, is expected to have an even bigger impact this year as the potential starting RB. His speed and agility make him a threat on the field, and Coach Padilla is excited to see what he can do this year. Frankie Hernandez, a four-year varsity starter, is another player to watch. He was part of the all-league and all-city team last season, and Coach Padilla expects him to continue to be a dominant force on the offensive line. Christopher Gonzalez, who was the Defensive Player of the Year for D3 last season, is also expected to make a big impact. Not only did he lead the city section with 9 interceptions, but he also ranked in the top 8 in the state with the same number. His versatility as a FS/WR makes him a valuable asset to the team. Aside from these returning players, Coach Padilla also has his eye on a few new players who he believes will make an immediate impact. This includes Antwan Jimenez, who will be filling the role of starting QB this season, and Charles Pittman, a sophomore who has already impressed on both the WR and DB positions.
