Head Coach Jon Simoneau and the Bernards High School football team are gearing up for an exciting 2025 season. Offseason Focus: Strength and Multi-Sport Balance Balancing Multi-Sport Athletes – Many players compete in multiple sports, and the team is working on maintaining strength while managing busy schedules. Weight Room Commitment – Increasing strength remains a top priority, ensuring players stay competitive against bigger opponents. Offseason Events: Training and Competition Jets 7v7 Tournament – The team will compete at the Jets facility in late June, gaining valuable experience against top competition. Facility Upgrades – New lights will be installed over the summer, enhancing the field and training environment. Key Players to Watch JR Nolan Walsh (QB, Junior) – Returning for his second season as the starting quarterback. He also finished 2nd in the district and 5th in the region in wrestling, competing at a higher weight class. Thomas Diemar (Long Snapper/Defense) – Nationally ranked long snapper and school record holder for sacks in both a career and a season. These standout players will be instrumental in leading the team through a competitive season. Strength & Conditioning: Modernized Training Program Coach Kyle Wierzbicki has updated the strength program, ensuring players are in top physical shape. Emphasis on Weight Training to prepare for physically demanding matchups. Nutrition & Player Wellness Trainer James Horan reinforces the importance of nutrition, encouraging players to build good habits like eating breakfast. Fan Engagement & Community Involvement Theme Nights for Home Games – Creating an exciting atmosphere for fans. Social Media Presence – Keeping the community engaged with team updates. Biggest Challenge: Competing Against Larger Schools This season, Bernards will face mostly bigger schools, making every game a test of skill and resilience. As a Group 2 team, competing against larger programs will be a challenge, but the Mountaineers are ready to rise to the occasion. 2025 Season Outlook With a strong quarterback, a dominant defensive presence, and a renewed focus on strength and conditioning, Bernards High School is ready to compete at a high level.
