Sun, April 6, 2025 at 06:04 AM . Pennsylvania
With a new chapter on the horizon, Bishop Shanahan High School's volleyball program is entering the 2025 season focused, hungry, and determined to maintain its high-level tradition despite major roster turnover. Offseason Focus This offseason, the program zeroed in on building strength, speed, and explosiveness. The main objectives: improving the vertical leap for front-row players and increasing overall foot speed and agility. The physical training has been intense and targeted, designed to help the team keep pace with the fast demands of high-level play. Special Offseason Events Team bonding and skill development will get a boost in July, when Bishop Shanahan hosts the Gold Medal Camp coaches for a pre-season team training camp. The camp will focus on advanced techniques, team strategy, and fostering chemistry among returning and rising players. Notable Departures & Additions The team will face the challenge of replacing a large graduating class—many of whom are continuing their volleyball careers at the collegiate level. Their leadership and court presence will be deeply missed, but Coach Ashman is looking to a talented group of returners and an exciting junior and freshman class to fill the void. Players to Watch Returning starters Sri Bonaci, Lauren Ward, and Mia Masherino are expected to play major roles in both performance and leadership. All three contributed significantly last season and have shown strong commitment throughout the offseason. Biggest Challenges Ahead The biggest obstacle for the Eagles this fall will be rebuilding after losing such a large and impactful senior class. However, with nearly all players participating in club volleyball throughout the offseason, the foundation is already being laid. The junior and freshman classes are stacked with potential, and their development will be key to a successful season.
