Brackenridge Volleyball Rebuilds, Recharges, and Refocuses for a Strong 2025 Season Offseason Focus: Strength, Speed, and Team Chemistry Coming off a successful season, Brackenridge Volleyball is using this offseason to reinforce its physical foundation while uniting a team filled with both experience and new promise. “Our main focus has been on building strength, increasing speed, and growing together as a team,” said Head Coach Jennifer Vega. With most athletes wrapping up other sports in April, the team is finally back together—and fully committed to improvement on and off the court. Summer Leagues and Camps Fuel Competition To maintain competitive momentum and encourage team bonding, the Eagles will participate in the CYDI League and Edison Summer League, two high-level platforms to keep players sharp. Coach Vega is also planning a team camp, giving all players a chance to train together and elevate their chemistry ahead of fall competition. Shifting Roles After Key Departures The program is graduating five senior leaders whose impact extended beyond the stat sheet. Their shoes will be tough to fill, but returning talent is ready to rise to the occasion. “We’re excited to see our returning players step into leadership roles and welcome new faces into the program,” Vega said. Players to Watch: Veterans and Rising Stars Alexis Contreras (Outside Hitter) and Alina Valdez (Setter) return as senior leaders. Both finished last season on a high note and have been dedicated in the weight room and at open gyms to ensure they lead by example in 2025. Reyna Jimenez (Setter, Sophomore) is emerging as a young talent to watch. Her offseason focus on technique and decision-making has stood out, showing signs of a breakout season ahead. Community Connection: Alumni & Youth Events Strengthen the Nest Brackenridge Volleyball is working hard to build a lasting impact beyond the court. They’re organizing an Alumni Volleyball Tournament to celebrate past players and bring the community back into the gym. Additionally, a youth volleyball camp is in the works to develop the next generation of Eagles. “It’s a great opportunity to inspire, connect, and give back,” said Vega. Challenges Ahead: Stepping Up After Leadership Losses The primary challenge this season will be adjusting to the loss of five graduating seniors, who anchored the program with their skill and leadership. Replacing that kind of presence takes time, but Coach Vega is confident the returning athletes are ready to meet the challenge head-on.
