Snellville, GA — Led by Head Coach Courtney Mincy, the Brookwood Lady Broncos wrapped up a promising 2024-25 season with an 18-12 record, a Region Runner-Up title, and a trip to the Sweet 16. In a year where the roster featured eight freshmen, two sophomores (injured), one junior, and just three seniors, the team embraced a steep learning curve and held their own in one of Georgia’s most competitive regions.
“This group showed tremendous heart,” said Coach Mincy. “They were coachable, resilient, and rose to every challenge thrown their way.”
Standout Performers Lead the Way
Junior guard #11 Justyce McCoy emerged as a dominant force, averaging 20 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists per game. She set the tone on both ends of the floor and was named Region Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Justyce also earned All-County honors, was a two-time GTOC Player of the Month, scored her 1,000th career point, and shattered the school records for steals in a game (10) and season (114).
Senior post player #30 Taylor Liberal averaged a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game. Her ability to protect the paint and dominate inside created mismatches on both ends of the floor. Taylor earned All-Region honors, a GTOC Player of the Month nod, and was named to the All-Academic Team for the county.
Senior wing #12 Camille Powell was the team’s glue, filling multiple roles throughout the season. As the third leading scorer, she became a reliable slasher and defender, and later stepped up as the backup point guard. Camille earned All-Region honors and a college scholarship to Mount Mary University.
Adversity Sparked Growth
A pivotal turning point came after the team’s first region loss, ending a winning streak and serving as a wake-up call.
“It forced us to refocus,” said Mincy. “It reminded us that we still had a lot of work to do, and the girls responded with maturity and drive.”
Despite having two players sidelined with injuries, the team remained united. Injured teammates stayed engaged, while others stepped up and filled vital roles.
Senior Class Leaves a Legacy
This year’s senior class brought invaluable energy and leadership, helping establish team chemistry and mentoring the younger players.
“They set the tone,” said Mincy. “They embraced our standards and supported their teammates in every way.”
Bright Future Ahead
With so many underclassmen gaining meaningful varsity experience, the future looks incredibly bright for Brookwood.
“I’m excited to watch them develop,” said Mincy. “We’ve already seen tremendous growth in just one season, and we’re building something strong.”
Offseason Goals and Development
The team will focus on strength training, ball-handling, and scoring efficiency during the offseason to sharpen their skillsets for next year.
