The Bullard High School water polo team is gearing up for another exciting season. After finishing in third place in Division 2 for their region in the CIF playoffs last year, they are setting their sights even higher for this year. With a tight bond and hard training, Coach Nicholas Stegall and his team are determined to have a dominant season.
The team is fortunate to have some key returning players from last season who will undoubtedly make a big impact on the team's success this year. Among them are individuals who possess not only great skills and abilities but also a strong work ethic and team-first mentality.
These players include seniors such as Joseph Hreishe, Sacha Shreyberman, and Maxx Collin, who have all been leaders on the team since their freshman year. Their experience and dedication to the sport make them stand out on the team. But it's not just the returning players who will make a difference on this year's team. Coach Stegall has high hopes for the new players joining the varsity team. Although the team will be smaller in terms of numbers, each individual brings a high level of talent and will have a great impact on the game.
It's clear that the team's depth and ability to play as a cohesive unit will be a major strength this season. The importance of team chemistry and camaraderie cannot be overstated for the Bullard High water polo team. Coach Stegall's philosophy for team captains is to have individuals who possess not just skill, but also dedication, organization, and the ability to motivate and lead their teammates.
Empowering the players to choose their own captain through a voting process, allows for a stronger sense of unity and leadership within the team. In terms of motivation, Coach Stegall doesn't have to do much for his players. The team is filled with individuals who are passionate about the sport and are always willing to give their all.
However, Coach Stegall does challenge them to be their best selves and to never give anything less than 110% effort. This mindset and determination will surely push the team to reach their full potential. One of the biggest challenges in preparing for this season has been the small roster size. However, the team is not letting that hold them back. Instead, they are embracing their small numbers and using them as motivation to work harder and strive for success.
