With the 2025 volleyball season on the horizon, Century High School’s varsity team, led by Head Coach Loren Anderson, is focused on building player adaptability, decision-making, and overall team cohesion. Competing in a tough league, the Jaguars are sharpening their skills and mindset to ensure they stay competitive throughout the season.
Offseason Focus & Development
Century has placed a major emphasis on serve-receive efficiency, defensive transitions, and offensive decision-making. The coaching staff is refining its constraint-led training approach, ensuring that practices mimic real game conditions. The goal is to develop smarter, more adaptable players who can make critical decisions under pressure.
Training, Camps & Strength Work
To keep players engaged and progressing, the team has been running open gyms, small-group training sessions, and two summer camps. Strength and conditioning have also been a priority, with players focusing on volleyball-specific strength, speed, and endurance training to enhance their on-court performance. Many athletes have taken ownership of their fitness, coming into offseason workouts noticeably stronger.
Key Players to Watch
Several returning players are expected to make a significant impact this season, particularly those who have dedicated themselves to strength training, open gym sessions, and film study. While Coach Anderson prefers to let performances on the court speak for themselves, the athletes putting in extra work will be the ones to watch.
Emphasis on Nutrition & Recovery
Century Volleyball encourages players to focus on fueling for performance and recovery rather than strict dieting. Hydration, protein intake, and complex carbohydrates are emphasized to maintain energy levels and muscle recovery throughout the season.
Community Engagement & Growing the Program
The Jaguars are committed to expanding their presence within the community, hosting skill clinics, open gyms, and summer camps to develop younger players. The program is also working to increase its visibility through social media, community events, and game-day experiences.
Biggest Challenges Ahead
Playing in a highly competitive league, Century faces the challenge of maintaining its competitive edge against top-tier opponents. Closing gaps in serve-receive, defensive coverage, and offensive versatility will be key to the team's success. Additionally, shifting players’ mindsets toward adaptability and problem-solving will help them thrive in high-pressure moments.
With a refined training approach, dedicated athletes, and a commitment to growth, the Century Jaguars are gearing up for an exciting and competitive 2025 season.
Stay tuned as Century Volleyball looks to make its mark this year!
