As the fall sports season approaches, football fans and supporters of Christian Brothers High School are eager to see what this year’s team has in store. With a new league and new non-league opponents, the Falcons are ready to hit the field and show their prowess on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
To give you a preview of what to expect, we sat down with Coach Larry Morla and talked about the team's goals, key players, and strategies for the upcoming season. The Top Returning Players
Coach Morla highlighted some of the top returning players from last season who will be crucial to the team's success this year. Among them are Isaiah Jordan, Josiah Campbell, Deakon Holden, and Jay Cummings. Jordan, a senior and team captain, has committed to play for the Air Force and is entering his fourth year on the varsity team.
He is a versatile player, contributing on both offense and defense. His leadership skills on and off the field make him an essential member of the team. Campbell, also a team captain, is a junior and one of the best linebackers in the section. With two years of experience on the varsity team, he brings valuable knowledge and skills to the field.
Holden, a senior, is another important player to watch out for. As the starting quarterback, he has been described as one of the best in the section and is expected to make a significant impact on the team's offense. Lastly, Cummings, a junior, is a returning starting running back who averaged 100 yards per game last season. His speed and agility make him a formidable threat to any opposing team's defense. New Players to Watch Out For
Aside from the returning players, there are a few new faces who are expected to make an immediate impact on the team. Sophomores Kingston Sablan and Gunnar Marsh have caught Coach Morla's eye with their potential and skills. Sablan, a sophomore, will be starting on both offense and defense, while Marsh is expected to make an impact as a kick returner, receiver, and defensive back. These young players show great promise and are sure to add depth and talent to the team. The Qualities of Team Captains
As for team captains, Coach Morla looks for players who lead by example and are vocal on the field. They are also expected to hold their teammates accountable and act as an extension of the coach on the field.
