As the spring season approaches, the East Bakersfield High School track and field team is gearing up for another exciting year. This year, the team will be under the guidance of Coach Bland, who has been leading the program for the past few years. With high expectations and a dedicated group of athletes, the team is looking to bring home a league championship this season.
When asked about his overall goals for the team this season, Coach Bland was quick to mention their ultimate goal of winning a league championship. This has been the goal for the team every year, and this year is no different. In order to reach this goal, Coach Bland believes that the key to success lies in the hard work and determination of his athletes.
The team will be led by top returning players such as Axel Ramirez and Jared Delgado for the boys' team, and Leslie Aquino and Andrea Martinez for the girls' team. Axel, a talented distance runner, is known for setting the tone at practice and being a helpful mentor to the younger runners. Jared, on the other hand, leads by example and puts 100% effort in everything he does, making him the best thrower on the team.
For the girls' team, Leslie is the returning league champion in both the 1600 and 3200 meter races. Coach Bland is looking forward to seeing her defend her titles this year. Andrea, who has shown a significant improvement in her 400 meter time last season, continues to work hard and get faster every day. The team is lucky to have such dedicated and talented athletes leading the way this season.
One of the most important aspects of any team sport is team chemistry and camaraderie. Coach Bland believes that this happens naturally in track and field, as the athletes grow closer through the hard work they put in together. They support each other during practices and meets, and this strong team bond is sure to help them achieve their goals.
In order to push his players to their full potential, Coach Bland emphasizes the importance of positive reinforcement. He also believes that it is ultimately up to the athletes to choose to push themselves to their full potential. As a coach, he continues to learn and adjust his coaching style based on the needs of his team, whether it be from season to season or in the middle of the season.
