Tue, April 8, 2025 at 03:04 AM . Ohio
With a strong foundation and a new season on the horizon, the Edgerton Bulldogs are entering the 2025 campaign ready to grow, adjust, and compete. After graduating two key seniors, the focus this offseason is clear—fill vital roles, build team chemistry, and continue developing all-around fundamentals. Offseason Focus Coach Pahl and her staff have been emphasizing a well-rounded approach. The team is evaluating who will step into the spots left open by graduating seniors, while also tightening up areas that proved problematic last season. “We always work on finding ways to improve everything,” says Pahl, highlighting their commitment to constant growth. Special Offseason Events The Bulldogs have a packed offseason lineup to encourage both skill development and team bonding. The team will head to Sandusky for a 14-match volleyball camp—complete with fun trips to Cedar Point and a water park for some off-court bonding. In addition, All American Volleyball will visit Edgerton to run a 3-day High School Camp and a 2-day Junior High Camp, offering players hands-on training with collegiate-level athletes. Notable Departures & Additions The team says goodbye to two impactful seniors: Casey Everetts and Corinne Cape, both of whom played crucial front and back row roles. Their leadership and versatility will be missed, and the Bulldogs are now tasked with filling those positions with new or returning players ready to rise to the challenge. Players to Watch Several athletes are already showing promise heading into the new season: Alivia Farnham returns as a dominant presence in the middle. She played both front and back row last season and continues to grow her game year after year. Ava Swank, the team’s talented setter, hit a major milestone last season by reaching 1,000 assists as a junior. Running the 5-1 rotation, she's expected to be a key playmaker again this year. With a mix of experienced returners and hungry new talent, Coach Pahl believes this group has the potential to turn heads. Strength & Conditioning The team’s offseason workouts are structured and purposeful. Three days a week, the Bulldogs hit the gym for lifting and conditioning, following a program put together by their athletic trainer to improve strength, agility, and endurance. Nutrition Awareness This year, Edgerton is taking nutrition seriously. A nutrition expert will be visiting to educate players on the importance of fueling their bodies for peak performance and recovery. It's another step toward building not just better athletes, but smarter ones, too. Coaching Philosophy Coach Pahl emphasizes creativity and fun in her approach to coaching. “We’re always looking for new ways to make learning the game exciting,” she says. That mindset helps keep practices fresh and players engaged. Community Involvement While specifics weren't shared, the Bulldogs continue to represent Edgerton with pride and dedication. Their connection with fans and the broader school community remains an important part of the team culture. Challenges Ahead The biggest hurdle this season will be replacing the leadership and versatility of last year’s seniors. Figuring out the right lineup and forming strong chemistry on the court will be key to success. But with strong returners and a determined staff, the Bulldogs are ready for the challenge. Final Thoughts Edgerton Volleyball is embracing the changes ahead with grit and optimism. With returning stars like Farnham and Swank leading the way, exciting offseason activities, and a focus on team-building and fundamentals, the Bulldogs are preparing to make this season one to remember.
