The upcoming track and field season at Eudora High School is already shaping up to be an exciting one. With a team comprised of hardworking, dedicated and talented individuals, the coaches and athletes have high hopes for the season ahead. I had the opportunity to speak with Coach Admin Admin about what we can expect from the team this year and the outlook is certainly positive.
This year's goals for the team are centered around the individual needs of each athlete. Coach Admin Admin stressed the importance of every athlete reaching their full potential and improving their personal bests. They also aim to challenge the athletes to consistently bring their best effort and focus, even when faced with difficult situations.
One of the most impressive aspects of the team this year is the number of returning State medalists. A total of 11 athletes are back this year, ready to build on their previous successes. Among them are seniors Kole Manley, Zach Arnold, Matthew Magette, Adrion Seals and junior Nathan Steinlage. Each of these athletes holds school records in their respective events and are poised to make a significant impact on the overall success of the team.
Senior Sydney Owens is another standout athlete to watch out for. Qualifying for state in multiple events and displaying fantastic leadership skills, Owens will undoubtedly be a key player for the team this season. Fellow senior Brennan Moeckel is also a force to be reckoned with, looking to break the school record in shot put and continue to showcase her talent and dedication. Junior Adalyn Hemphill, Addy, is a name to remember as well.
With two school records under her belt, Hemphill is a crucial member of the team and will contribute greatly to their success. Alongside her, junior Hanna Keltner and Miranda Kuntz are also expected to make their mark this season, with Keltner holding the school record in 800m and Kuntz placing 6th in Javelin at State last year.
In addition to these standout athletes, Coach Admin Admin emphasizes the importance of every member of the team and their contributions. The team is lucky to have a group of leaders who consistently lead by example and support their teammates.
The team captains for this year, which includes several seniors and juniors, are a reflection of this mentality and will undoubtedly continue to guide the team towards success. Looking towards their schedule this year, the team has a mix of both familiar and new events.
