Finneytown Football: Building a Foundation to Dominate the Day  Offseason Focus With a new head coach at the helm, Finneytown Football is undergoing a cultural shift. Coach Koury Johnson has made developing a weight room culture and establishing strong player-coach relationships his top priorities. The program is focused on building self-confidence, toughness, and trust, emphasizing hard work without shortcuts. “We’re working to trust our body and know that we can do what is required,” says Coach Johnson. Notable Additions & Departures Coach Johnson took over the program in late March and brought in a new coaching staff committed to elite-level development. Their goal is to elevate every aspect of the program and create a structure that drives long-term success. This marks the beginning of a new era at Finneytown. Players to Watch Several returning players are already setting the tone this offseason: Samarion Ford Jahlil Youngblood Zyhr Youngblood Izaiah Pinkney Tylandis McNeil These athletes have demonstrated consistency, dedication, and effort in the weight room, showing up on time and pushing themselves daily. Coach Johnson notes their toughness and work ethic as standout qualities.  Weight Lifting and Fitness The team has embraced a gritty mindset with the motto: “Dominate the Day.” This includes building the capacity to play four—and sometimes five—quarters at full intensity. Practices and lifting sessions incorporate sudden change drills and competition periods to simulate real-game adversity. The program stresses accountability in every rep, play, grade, and behavior. Coaching Perspective Coach Johnson and his staff are investing time into thoroughly understanding both their own system and their opponents. The offseason has involved detailed study of opponents' tendencies to create strategic blueprints. “We can’t predict what every team will look like, but we can be prepared by knowing what they’ve done,” explains Coach Johnson. Fan Engagement & Community Impact The team is increasing its presence on social media through initiatives like the “Dominator of the Week”, highlighting athletes for their effort and performance. Coaches are also making regular visits to local businesses to strengthen community ties and raise awareness about the program.  Biggest Challenges Ahead The greatest challenge Finneytown faces is sustaining buy-in to the team’s new culture. Coach Johnson acknowledges the program's struggles in recent years but is determined to lay a new foundation—not rebuild, but build anew. “We don’t shy away from tough things. We aim to dominate each rep, each play, each day.”
