As the new school year approaches, Free State High School is gearing up for another exciting season of track and field. The team, led by Coach Admin Admin, is setting their sights on creating a positive and supportive team environment, while also aiming for a successful showing at the State meet. In this exclusive interview, Coach Admin shares his insights on the team's strengths, goals, and plans for the upcoming season. Question: Coach Admin, can you tell us about the returning athletes on your team this year?
Answer: We are fortunate to have a group of talented and dedicated athletes returning to our team this year. We have a number of State medalists, including Grant Lichauer, Ryan Whittlesey, Jake Hedges, Jake Loos, Cam Stutler, and Roman Jasso. These athletes not only excel individually but also have a strong team mentality, making them crucial contributors to our relay events.
We also have a solid group of returning State qualifiers, such as Blake Wohler, Zach Hansen-Terry, Jameson Carter, Thomas Henderson, Cristian Wills, and Cooper Stone. On the girls' side, we have Gretchen Weinkauf, Cayman Barnes, Brylee Burns, and Elle Cormaney, who have all shown great potential in previous seasons. Q: How do you plan on incorporating new members into your team?
A: While I do not know our new athletes yet, I am looking forward to getting to know them and including them in our program. Our team has a strong sense of camaraderie and we are always eager to welcome new members into our family. Q: Is there a specific leadership structure within your team? A: We do not have specific team captains, but we look for individuals who exhibit strong leadership qualities.
We value inclusivity, encouragement, and respect, not only towards their peers but also towards coaches, officials, and competitors. Q: It seems like you have a large team, how do you ensure that every member receives personalized attention and support? A: Good question. This year, we are implementing a new approach where each athlete will have an "advisory" role on our coaching staff.
In addition to their event coach, they will also have another coach who will advocate for them. With this structure, we can ensure that each athlete receives individualized attention and support throughout the season. Q: As a coach, what is your approach to coaching such a large team?
