As the new school year approaches, the Frontier Academy boys' basketball team is gearing up for what promises to be an exciting and challenging season. After an impressive performance last season, the Frontier Academy boys are aiming to improve their skills and maintain their competitive spirit in the face of a tough league. We had the opportunity to sit down with Coach Jamie Wood and get a preview of what fans can expect from the team this year.
With experience and determination on their side, the Frontier Academy boys' basketball team is ready to take on any challenges that come their way. Coach Wood was quick to highlight the team's top returning players from last season, and it's no surprise that these players are what make the team truly special. "Our top returning players for this season are senior guards Max Anthony and Evan Anderson," says Coach Wood. "They both bring a wealth of experience and leadership to the team.
Max is a natural scorer and can create opportunities for himself and his teammates on the court. Evan is a tenacious defender and has great court vision. He is able to control the pace of the game and find the open man."
The team's success last season can be attributed in large part to the leadership and skills of these two players. With their tenacity and determination, they were able to carry the team to numerous victories and create an atmosphere of competitiveness and drive within the team. Their experience and knowledge of the game will be invaluable as they guide the team through another challenging season.
The coach's style and strategies may differ from previous seasons, but his focus on improving and being competitive remains the same. "We have Resurrection Christian and Yuma, the 3A and 4A state champions, coming into our league this year, along with Strasburg, Highland, and Windsor Charter. Our league will provide a tough test for us every night," Coach Wood explains. "I have adjusted my coaching style and strategies to cater to the strengths and weaknesses of this particular team.
My goal is to constantly work on improving our skills and mindset, and to be able to compete at the highest level possible." To be able to compete at the highest level, Coach Wood emphasizes the importance of balance between academics and sports for his players.
