In an exclusive interview, Coach Reed shares his insights on the team's strengths, challenges, and goals for the season. When asked about the top returning players from last season, Coach Reed wastes no time in naming them. "We have a solid group of returning players who have been working hard in the off-season to improve their skills. Our key players from last season include Dexter Lillmars, Satchell Norwood, and Avery Lambers." Coach Reed goes on to explain that these players have a strong work ethic, great leadership skills, and are highly motivated to succeed. "They have a great understanding of the game and are always looking to improve. They are definitely our core players for the upcoming season." The Fruitport High School team also has a group of new players who are ready to make an immediate impact. "We have a talented group of new players who are hungry for success. Ryan Bosch, Braxton Ward, Thomas Anderson, Jax Flynn, Trevor Rusnak, and Hudson Hazekamp bring a lot of energy and skill to the team." Coach Reed is excited to see how these new players will contribute to the team's success this season. When it comes to selecting team captains, Coach Reed looks for players who possess certain qualities. "We look for players who are accountable, coachable, and trustworthy. Our captains this season include Dexter Lillmars, a freshman, and Satchell Norwood, an upcoming junior." These players have shown great leadership potential and have been working hard to earn their roles as captains. Team chemistry and camaraderie are crucial for any team's success, and Coach Reed has a plan in place to ensure this for his team. "We will focus on building trust and accountability within the team. We will also have team-building activities to help the players bond and work together towards our common goal." Motivating players to push themselves to their full potential can be a challenge for any coach. However, Coach Reed believes in the power of team unity and discipline. "We push our players past their perceived limits through drills, repetition work, and mental toughness training. We also emphasize the importance of discipline and attention to detail in order to achieve success." Preparation for the new season has not been without its challenges. "One of the biggest challenges has been getting the team to play at a consistent level. We are constantly working on improving our approach at the plate and being more disciplined on the field." Coach Reed stresses the importance of mental toughness and the need to stay focused and disciplined throughout the season. The team's schedule for the season is a mix of tough opponents and opportunities for growth. "We have some challenging games lined up, but we see them as opportunities to improve and adjust our gameplay. We have early games against Traverse City Central, Spring Lake, Allendale, and Hamilton, which will be a good test for us." As for his coaching style, Coach Reed likes to stick to what has worked for him in the past. "We have gone back to our tried and tested methods of discipline, attention to detail, and accountability. These are the pillars of our success and we will continue to focus on them this season as well." Coach Reed also emphasizes the importance of the mental aspect of the game for his team's success. "Mental toughness is crucial for our team's success this year. We will be working on building mental resilience and staying focused throughout the season." In terms of training and conditioning, Coach Reed has made some changes and improvements to the team's program. "We have added more mental training exercises to our routine to help our players develop the mental strength needed for success. We have also increased the intensity of our strength and conditioning program to prepare our players for the physical demands of the season." When asked about his coaching philosophy, Coach Reed believes in focusing on the team's strengths and addressing any weaknesses. "Our team's strength lies in our pitching and defense, and we will continue to work on those areas. Our weakness will be consistency in our offense, and we will be working on improving our approach at the plate." In conclusion, the Fruitport High School baseball team is all set to take on the challenges of the new season with a strong and motivated group of players. With a focus on team unity, mental toughness, and hard work, Coach Reed and his team are determined to achieve their goals of winning the Conference, City, Districts, and Regionals.
