Offseason Focus
This offseason, the Gainesville Volleyball program is concentrating on developing game IQ and building team chemistry. A key part of that process is learning each other's strengths and weaknesses to improve communication and on-court synergy heading into a competitive season.
Notable Additions & Departures
The Leopards graduated six seniors last season, which leaves some big shoes to fill. However, the program is optimistic as several talented underclassmen are ready to rise to the occasion and take on larger roles on the court.
Players to Watch
A core group of returners is set to lead the team this fall:
Makenli Royal (Class of 2028) – A second team All-District Setter, known for her court vision and leadership.
Reese Dunn (Class of 2027) – Libero and All-District Honorable Mention, anchoring the back row with quick reads and defensive poise.
Lily Allen (Class of 2028) – Outside Hitter and All-District Honorable Mention, expected to make a strong impact at the net.
Also returning to varsity are Litzi Sagahon, Crystal Ramos, and Pearl Fomby, each bringing valuable experience and versatility to the team.
Biggest Challenges Ahead
Gainesville is competing in one of the toughest districts in the state, which sets the stage for a challenging schedule. But Coach Mathews embraces the underdog role and is confident in her team’s ability to rise. “I hope my team can step out of their comfort zones and play like I know they can,” she says. With determination, heart, and continued growth, the Leopards aim to surprise their opponents and earn respect across the district.)
