Mon, April 7, 2025 at 05:04 AM . Michigan
With eyes set on a championship run in the West Michigan D League, Grand Traverse Academy is using the offseason to strengthen both mind and body. Head Coach Robert Kinney is leading the charge by emphasizing physical development and foundational skills as the program prepares for an exciting Fall 2025 season. Offseason Focus The Titans have zeroed in on getting stronger, spending serious time in the weight room and drilling proper hitting mechanics. The focus on building physicality and fine-tuning fundamentals is meant to give this young squad a competitive edge as they step into a new chapter. Special Offseason Events Several players are attending the prestigious Pensacola Christian College Volleyball Camp in Florida this summer. The camp will not only provide elite training, but also help with team bonding and give players exposure to a higher level of play. Notable Departures & Additions The program bids farewell to key seniors, including standout middle Megan Pavwoski, who made headlines last season by finishing #1 in the state for blocks. Her presence at the net will be missed, but the Titans are optimistic about the leadership and growth of their returning core. Players to Watch Upcoming seniors are expected to take the reins this season, bringing experience and determination to the court. Additionally, junior Cali Bilderback is a name to watch, with the potential to have a breakout season thanks to her offseason work and emerging skill set. Team Identity & Fanbase With GTA rapidly becoming a powerhouse in the West Michigan D League, the team is gaining momentum and pride within the school and the larger community. The offseason has been just as much about building team spirit as it has been about reps and sets. Biggest Challenge Ahead This is a young team, and with that comes the challenge of reinforcing the basics while fostering game-time confidence. Coach Kinney’s hope is that with solid preparation and steady growth, the Titans can compete for a conference championship come fall.
