The 2024-25 cheer season at Hellgate High School was a standout year of growth, determination, and school spirit. With a team made up largely of first-time cheerleaders, the group came together to not only elevate their skill level but also increase their presence at events and games across the year. Season Highlights In Coach Villafranca’s words, “The season went great.” The team performed more halftime shows than in previous years, showcasing an increased commitment to game-day performances and technical growth. This year, Hellgate Cheer didn't just support from the sidelines—they became an essential part of the game-day atmosphere. Team Development What makes this season special is the universal growth across the entire roster. Every cheerleader, most of whom had never cheered before, developed dramatically in both ability and confidence. By season’s end, their polished performances and chemistry made it nearly impossible to believe many had just started months earlier. Endurance Through Challenges Cheerleading is one of the longest-running school activities, stretching from August to March. Through the demands of that schedule, coupled with injuries and other challenges, the team remained resilient. Their unity, positivity, and ability to reflect and adapt helped them power through the toughest moments and come back stronger each time. Senior Leadership This year’s lone senior, Landon Christensen, made a powerful impact. A consistent leader, Landon brought daily energy and mentorship, while pushing the team’s technical ceiling with his work in partner stunting. His contributions have left a lasting impression on the team and opened new doors for future stunt possibilities at Hellgate. Looking Ahead While the recap didn't include specific names, Coach Villafranca expressed excitement about the team’s future. With a strong foundation of returning athletes who’ve made rapid progress in their first year, the potential for even more complex stunts, routines, and performances is high. Offseason Goals Though not detailed here, one can expect the offseason to focus on continued skill-building, conditioning, and preparing new leaders to emerge as the team moves forward.
