2025 Fall Football Season Preview: Hemet High School  Offseason Focus This offseason, Hemet High School Football has been laser-focused on building strength, depth, and unity across all phases of the game. Under Head Coach Jeff Galloway’s leadership, the program has emphasized physical conditioning, sharpening fundamentals, and building team chemistry. Offensively, the Bulldogs are working to enhance execution and expand the playbook. Defensively, tackling technique and overall speed have been key points of improvement. Special teams also received increased attention, recognizing the importance of all three phases of the game. The mission? Raise the standard and enter the season prepared, confident, and hungry to compete.  Special Offseason Events While the team’s offseason has been primarily focused on in-house development, Hemet High continues to prioritize team bonding and competitive growth. Although no large-scale camps or tournaments were confirmed, Coach Galloway noted that the offseason was rich in team-building opportunities—both on and off the field. Competitive training environments, leadership development activities, and internal scrimmages helped players push each other and grow as a unit. These efforts have created a strong foundation heading into the season. Notable Additions & Departures Following an outstanding year in which Hemet was awarded the prestigious Hatchell Cup and recognized as the #1 Academic Football Team in the Nation by the National Football Foundation, the program has seen some key transitions. The team graduated its 4-year starting quarterback and several standout wide receivers—leaders whose contributions were critical to last season's success. While their presence will be missed, Coach Galloway is optimistic about the new wave of talent stepping up to fill the void. The coaching staff remains intact, bringing continuity and a steadfast commitment to excellence both on and off the field.  Players to Watch Several players have emerged this offseason as leaders and difference-makers for the Bulldogs. Key returners include: Drew Neal (RB) – Known for his explosiveness and consistency, Neal has stepped into a leadership role on offense. Russell Huser (LB) – A physical force and vocal leader on defense, Huser sets the tone with his intensity and focus. Julian Subia (DE/TE) – A versatile presence on both sides of the ball, Subia has taken his game to the next level in the weight room and on the field. All three have been relentless in offseason training, showing major gains in strength, confidence, and leadership. Their effort has been contagious, elevating the standard for the entire team.  Weight Lifting and Fitness Consistency and accountability have been the pillars of Hemet’s offseason training program. Players are not just showing up—they’re showing out. Early morning lifts, competitive challenges, and off-field workouts have built both bodies and bonds. One standout element has been the team’s energy during group lifts, where leadership naturally emerges, and team chemistry grows stronger. Coach Galloway and his staff have made it a point to keep workouts fresh and engaging, fostering a "get better together" mindset that’s translating into measurable gains.  Coaching Perspective Coach Galloway and his staff have taken a deep dive this offseason to analyze and improve every facet of the program. This includes refining schemes, adding strategic wrinkles on both sides of the ball, and placing a strong emphasis on situational football. Coaches have also prioritized individualized development to ensure every player understands and thrives in their role. The overarching goal is simple: become more efficient, disciplined, and competitive on every snap. Biggest Challenges Ahead Replacing the production and leadership of last year’s senior class, particularly at quarterback and wide receiver, will be one of the team’s toughest challenges. Additionally, with a younger roster in some key areas, gaining experience and confidence early will be crucial. Staying healthy and building team chemistry through the rigors of the season will also be critical to success. Still, Coach Galloway believes in the potential of this team and is confident they are ready to meet the challenge head-on—focused, united, and trusting the process.
