2025 Fall Football Season Preview: Holy Cross High School Offseason Focus The Holy Cross Football team has made strength and conditioning its primary focus this offseason. With an eye on overall athletic performance and injury prevention, players have been training hard in the weight room and on the field. The goal is clear: build a stronger, faster, and more resilient team heading into the upcoming season.  Special Offseason Events As part of their offseason development and recruiting exposure, Holy Cross players are attending several key college football camps. Most notably, the team will take part in the Rutgers University Camps and will compete in the New York State 7-on-7 Tournament at SUNY Cortland. These events not only provide skill development and evaluation opportunities but also foster team bonding and competitive spirit.  Notable Additions & Departures The offseason has brought some significant updates to the Holy Cross roster and staff. The team has welcomed several transfer players who are expected to make an immediate impact. Additionally, new position coaches have been brought on board, bringing fresh energy and experience to the program. These changes are expected to elevate the team’s performance and execution across all phases of the game.  Players to Watch Holy Cross is stacked with talent this season, and several key players are expected to make headlines: Madden Martinez (QB) – A strong presence under center with leadership qualities. Antoine Williams (RB) – Explosive runner with playmaking ability. Brandon Glaudin (LB) – Defensive anchor with a nose for the ball. Xavier Godard (DL) – A dominant force on the line. Kenneth Dailey (DB) – Athletic and instinctive in the secondary. Ricardo Franco (FS) – Reliable safety with excellent field awareness. Luca Collado (DE) – Aggressive edge rusher with a high motor. Each of these athletes has shown strong dedication throughout the offseason, and their effort in workouts and leadership on the field will be key to the team's success. Weight Lifting and Fitness Holy Cross has introduced a high-intensity muscle-building program that combines traditional stationary lifts with dynamic, movement-based strength training. This unique blend aims to improve functional strength, explosiveness, and endurance. The results are already showing in the team's improved physicality and cohesion during training sessions.  Nutrition The coaching staff at Holy Cross emphasizes the importance of nutrition as part of performance training. Players follow a high-protein, low-fat diet aimed at fueling muscle growth, supporting recovery, and promoting overall health and stamina.  Coaching Perspective Coach Tim Smith and his staff have been actively engaged in professional development this offseason, attending clinics and leveraging online coaching platforms to refine their strategies. The focus has been on enhancing team execution, learning new philosophies, and staying ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving game. These insights will be applied directly to game planning and player development this season.  Biggest Challenges Ahead With a number of younger players expected to take on big roles, the primary challenge for Holy Cross will be managing the growing pains of inexperience. Mistakes from less-seasoned players are expected early, but the coaching staff is confident that with time, reps, and leadership from veterans, this team can mature quickly and rise to the challenge.
