Hughesville, PA – As the Hughesville Jr/Sr High School volleyball team gears up for the upcoming season, Head Coach Brandi Liddic and her squad are embracing a mix of skill refinement, strategic positioning, and fresh leadership opportunities to build momentum this offseason.
Offseason Focus: Back-Row Hitting & Versatility
The offseason plan has zeroed in on developing back-row hitting—a skill that can give the team more offensive flexibility. “It’s one of the key areas we want to enhance this year,” said Coach Liddic. The goal is to strengthen the team’s attacking options from all areas of the court while improving overall execution.
Events & Team Bonding
While the full camp and tournament schedule is still being finalized, the team is expected to attend key events that will help refine their skills and strengthen chemistry. Offseason workouts and conditioning are being guided by Hughesville’s athletic trainer, who provides summer sessions for all athletes across sports.
Key Departures & New Faces
The team will face the challenge of replacing three impactful seniors: Ella Breneisen, Aubrey Hamm, and Ava Snyder, each of whom played critical roles on the court. “Their leadership and performance will be tough to replace,” Liddic admits, “but we’ve got several talented players ready to step up.”
An exciting addition to the program is a new assistant coach, whose appointment is pending official confirmation. “We’re hopeful this new addition will bring fresh energy and help support our goals for the season,” said Liddic.
Players to Watch
Returning talent is already making a statement. Anna Easton, now a junior, is showing signs of becoming a dynamic force on the court. “She’s growing in confidence, and I’m excited to see the plays she’ll deliver this season,” Liddic noted.
Senior libero Marissa Fabiano is another key figure to watch. Known for her quick reflexes and ability to handle difficult passes, Fabiano will be an anchor in the team’s back row.
Coaching Strategy: Learning from the Best
Coach Liddic has been actively attending college practices and games during the offseason to observe strategies and enhance player positioning and movement. “We’ve already implemented new drills that have significantly improved communication and awareness,” she shared.
Fitness & Nutrition: Stronger Bodies, Smarter Fueling
Players are encouraged to participate in school-wide summer conditioning sessions. In terms of nutrition, Coach Liddic emphasizes healthy eating habits and adequate rest. “Athletes perform best when they’re fueling their bodies properly and getting enough recovery,” she said.
Fan & Community Support
Hughesville volleyball benefits from a tight-knit, supportive community. Many of the volleyball athletes are multi-sport competitors, and their achievements are celebrated year-round. “The support they receive from fans, no matter the sport, really fuels their passion,” said Liddic.
Challenges Ahead: Filling Big Shoes, Finding the Right Fit
The biggest test ahead lies in finding the right player combinations. With standout roles like Ava Snyder’s still unfilled, Liddic is carefully experimenting with lineup shifts. “Anna Easton may be the right fit to take Ava’s role, but then we’ll need to backfill hers. It’s all about figuring out where each athlete can best contribute,” she explained.
With talent, depth, and a forward-thinking coaching staff, the Hughesville volleyball team is poised to rise to the occasion, even as they navigate transitions and new roles.
