After wrapping up the first full season in program history, the Langtree Charter Academy football team is back in the weight room—and back to work. With every player returning and a focused offseason plan in motion, the Lions are ready to raise the bar in 2025. Offseason Focus: First Steps to a New Standard Coach Weir has made one thing clear: this offseason is about building strength and laying the foundation. “For many of our players, this is their first true offseason in the weight room,” said Weir. “But they’ve bought in since January, and the growth is already showing.” Each athlete has been assigned three individual lifting goals and a bodyweight target to reach by the start of camp. The Lions train four days a week, combining strength, conditioning, and team-building. Nutrition, Powered by Family Nutrition is a key pillar of the Lions’ offseason plan. With individualized calorie and protein targets, players are fueled with purpose. Coach Weir’s wife, Mrs. Sara Weir, has become an honorary member of the team, providing custom shaker bottles and weekly protein shakes or bars to support the team’s gains. Summer Competition & Homegrown Tournaments Langtree will participate in multiple 7-on-7s and Big Man Challenges this summer and is hosting their own 7-on-7 tournament on June 11—a sign of a program already building tradition. Key Additions & Standout Returners With no seniors in their first year, Langtree returns a full roster and adds Aaron Slaydon, a tall, physical WR/S/LB who loves contact and brings immediate impact potential. Players to Watch: Easton Roschke (QB) – Sophomore leader with prototypical size and poise. Threw for 1,500 yards and 14 TDs in just 6 games as a freshman. Garrett Barbee (ATH) – Senior leader and emotional heartbeat. Added 20 lbs this offseason; scored 10 TDs last season while lining up at TE, RB, and WR. Will Hay (RB/LB) – The “rock” of the team. Langtree’s leading rusher and tackler, and a relentless competitor in the weight room and on the field. Thomas Hay (WR/Returner) – Younger brother of Will. Led the team in receiving yards and catches as a freshman and plays smart, technical football with soft hands and high IQ. Arbrey Hoyle (DL) – Explosive defender with length and versatility. A true matchup problem for any offense. Walt Liebenberg (DL) – South African native and first-year player who’s made rapid progress. Bulked up from 165 to 190 lbs and is primed for a breakout. Coaching Development & Strategy Shift Coach Castle (WRs & Strength) has leveraged his personal training background to help craft the team’s offseason plan. Meanwhile, the staff has been reviewing film, refining schemes, and tailoring systems to the strengths of their roster. “We’re focusing on what works best for our guys,” Weir emphasized. Fan Engagement & Community Roots Langtree is committed to staying connected with its students and local community. The team plans to participate in several events during the offseason—bridging the gap between the stands and the sidelines. 2025 Vision: Start Strong. Finish Stronger. “Our goal is to win the first game of the year and build from there,” said Coach Weir. “We focus on the process. Football gives you a chance for success, but if you don’t put in the work, you have no chance.” This year’s mantra? E.A.T. – Execute the Task. Attack Each Day. Together in Everything We Do. Like A Fist.
