As the season approaches, Coach Adam Eaton of Lindhurst High School is eager to showcase the talented team they have this year. With a focus on improving day by day, game by game, and season by season, the team is determined to make an impact in the Sierra Delta League and earn a spot in the playoffs. One of the key factors in this year's team success will be the return of top players from last season.
Keith Scroggins has been a leader on and off the court since his freshman year and will now be entering his junior season on the varsity level. His hard work and dedication to the team make him a special player to watch. Another player to keep an eye on is David Robinson, who has been putting in extra time in the gym and weight room to improve his game. But it's not just the returning players who will make an immediate impact on the team.
Coach Eaton has his eyes on two athletes, Kevin Wiley and Henri Reed, who are coming off a successful football season. With their speed and athleticism, they will bring a different dynamic to the team and help take some pressure off the returners. When it comes to selecting team captains, Coach Eaton looks for players who possess qualities such as leadership, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
Keith Scroggins has been the captain for the last two years, and this year he will be joined by Braxton Kertianis to help hold the team accountable on and off the court. Team chemistry and camaraderie are crucial for any successful team, and Coach Eaton knows this. He has implemented team lunches on game days and encourages positivity on the court during practices.
After every game, he makes sure each player says something positive about their team and teammates. This not only helps build a strong team bond but also motivates players to push themselves to their full potential. Preparing for this season has been a challenge for the team. With a new league and little film on their opponents, they are facing a lot of unknowns.
But Coach Eaton is leading by example and focusing on the little things. He has also brought in more coaches to help him with the team, allowing him to focus on other aspects of coaching. The team's schedule is packed this year with 28 games, including 3 tournaments, 5 out-of-league games, and 14 league games. There are also a few weeks where they will have to play 3-4 games.
