2025 Fall Football Season Preview: Lockland High School Offseason Focus: Building Culture and Growing Numbers The Lockland Panthers are entering a transformative offseason under new Head Coach Ryan Erkins. With a clear mission to establish a new culture and build roster numbers, the team is focusing on fundamentals both on and off the field. “We’re a small school,” says Coach Erkins, “but with the right buy-in from players and the community, we have the potential to be a powerhouse at our level.” Special Offseason Events: Competing and Connecting The Panthers are set to compete in the MVFCA Social Justice 7-on-7 tournament on July 9th. This event will give the team a chance to compete, grow, and interact with athletes and coaches from different schools, broadening their perspective and strengthening their bond as a unit. New Faces on the Sideline and the Field With Coach Erkins taking over as head coach, the entire coaching staff is brand new. This offseason marks a fresh start for the program. The team is also working to fill the leadership void left by a strong graduating senior class. While it’s a challenge, Coach Erkins believes in the younger talent stepping up this year. Players to Watch in 2025 Several players have stood out this offseason for their leadership, effort, and potential: Dante Farley – 6'3", 170 lbs WR/CB: Poised for a breakout senior season. Ty Hicks – 6'1", 190 lbs OL/LB: A hard-nosed senior looking to leave a legacy. Kristian Lewis – 5'7", 150 lbs ATH: Transitioning into a new role as a potential starting quarterback. Desmond Wolfork – 5'9", 140 lbs: Returning sophomore ready for a larger role after contributing as a freshman. Cayleb Cheek – Rising sophomore and track star known for his speed. Roy Hall – Promising incoming freshman. Overcoming Facilities Challenges with Grit The offseason has brought unique obstacles. With the school under construction, the team has no weight room, and the stadium is closed. Despite the lack of facilities, the Panthers have been grinding wherever space is available, showing resilience and dedication that reflect the new culture being built. Coaching Strategy: More Than Just Football Coach Erkins and his staff are focused on building well-rounded young men, not just football players. New programs such as study tables and GPA expectations above state standards are being introduced to promote academic excellence and personal responsibility. Fan Engagement & Community Outreach The Panthers are working hard to build strong community ties. The team plans to partner with local Little League programs and host community meetings to keep fans engaged and invested in the future of Lockland Football. Looking Ahead: Embracing Challenges with Heart With a small roster, numbers will always be a challenge at Lockland. But Coach Erkins is confident in his team’s mental, physical, and emotional readiness. “My kids are lion-hearted,” he says. “They’ll be ready for everything that’s placed in front of them.”
