The 2024-25 cheerleading season for Lowell Catholic High School was nothing short of historic, as the Lady Crusaders overcame early-season adversity to finish as North Regional Champions, State Champions, and New England Champions—a first in school history. A True Team Effort In a sport where every athlete plays a vital role, it’s hard to single out just one contributor. The entire roster was essential to the program’s success. According to Coach Swartz, “Every athlete had a major role in our success this season.” The squad adapted weekly to lineup changes due to school service trips, showing incredible resilience and adaptability. Season Recap: From Bumpy Start to Championship Finish The beginning of the season presented major challenges: scheduling conflicts, missed practices, and constantly shifting routines. Despite the rough start, the team found its rhythm and dominated nearly every competition, placing first in all but one invitational, where they still managed to earn second. The defining moment came at their final invitational. The team posted its highest score of the season, instilling the belief that a state title was within reach—a dream that had never before been realized in the program’s history. Leaders Who Lifted the Team Captain Abigail emerged as a calming and unifying force, encouraging open communication and team cohesion throughout the year. Molly and Gianna played key roles in lifting team morale, especially during tough stretches, reminding everyone of their shared goals and the power of perseverance. Overcoming Pressure and Setbacks The Lady Crusaders faced their fair share of pressure moments and setbacks, including injuries and difficult practices. But they always bounced back with maturity, entering each new day with a fresh mindset. "They would walk into the next practice with an open mind and always turn a negative into a positive," said Coach Swartz. Farewell to Outstanding Seniors The two graduating seniors will be deeply missed, both for their unwavering work ethic and leadership. “They put in the work every single time and helped keep the team focused and united,” Swartz shared. Their efforts were instrumental in securing the season’s remarkable achievements. Looking Ahead With only three of nine core athletes graduating, Lowell Catholic is poised for another strong year. The coaching staff is excited about returning alternates stepping up to compete and confident that the next generation will continue to build on this year's success. Offseason Goals The team’s focus this offseason will be on improving flexibility and tumbling, key components that will elevate their routines and competitive edge even further.
